I had a Sony CDXMP70 installed in my EX the other day and noticed that I wasn't feeling any response from the subwoofer. I took it it back and inquired about the problem and was told that I may need an 'integrator plug' in order to get it to work. I looked at eMass's past posts, but since there aren't any pictures anymore, I don't know what to look for or how to install it (if what I was told is true). Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks Bredan. Considering that I don't have any experience in installing or wiring ANYTHING, I might need to have Car Tunes or somebody do this for me. Withough pictures, diagrams, and the like, I understand a bit, but I'm not comfortable enough to try this myself. Though the lack of bass is already killing me!

Thanks again!

Have them hook one of the subwoofer's wires to one of the sub line outs on your sony deck. You will just need one. not both. Thats how I wired my Sony and the sub rocks!

What I did (with the help of my friend Tim who runs Unleaded Racing Technologies down here in Michigan) is take the subwoofer wires and soldered them to a Monster RCA cable. Then plugged the end into the unit. The thing works beautifully, and I don't have to worry about some Afrotech job like hoping resistor leads will sit in the sub harness by being wrapped in electrical tape.

That works. My approach came from one, single requirement: I will not cut any of the OEM wiring, so that I can return everything to stock in case I have to sell. Hence, the special custom "plug".

Note that the reason I used resistor leads was that they actually are thick enough to have a reasonable amount of friction in the socket. The electrical tape (or better yet, heat shrink tubing) was there to seal the deal, as it were.

I'm not knocking on what you did. Just that I wouldn't have trusted myself or my friend with getting that right. Hmm, and yet I trusted him with a soldering gun....

Heh. Not only have I avoided cutting the OEM wiring, but I've got two "extra" harnesses in my dash to avoid cutting my empeg harness, pioneer harness and speakerphone harness wiring as well.

One day I'll post pics and you all will be horrified...

I have tried all kinds of methods that other EOC members use per their thread and had no luck or no sound from the factory sub :-x , except your method :) . I used oridinary rca cables, similiar to the ones that everyone uses for their home stereo, and got the factory subwoofer to slightly work but does not sound normal like how it sounds like from factory :? . Though I did not solder because I was testing it first.

Do you think the ordinary rca cables are too thin (higher gauge) versus the Monster cables that you used which is thick (lower gauge)? What type (model number) if any, was your Monster cables? I want to try the same Monster cables that you used hoping that it will work.
