Glad all are safe!

No airbag deployment? Even if you get it back, mine was a bit worse and she has been going strong.

Diminished value

If you can't get it from your insurance sue Bimbette Smurf for it.

No fun at all!!! Sorry to see that. Glad that all were well.

Keep us posted on the outcome.... My guess, from the photos, is that they can fix it....

No deployment, i don't have side impact, and she hit me right in front of ther tire, so it did not activate my airbags.
I am going to call insurance today to check on it's status....:-(

Just a note..we were accelerating from a green light, she very clearly ran the red, her speed estimated at 40mph.....the impact completely knocked us out of the lane of travel, but aside from my hip being severely bruised from the seatbelt, no injuries...

The passenger door wont open b/c the panels are all shoved over on top of it, and we were not permitted to open the hood, b/c as you may be able to see, the side panel is actually overlapping it.

Keeping fingers crossed....

Sounds exactly like the impact I had 11 months ago. Mine was a hit from a Ford Ranger and his was, well...it did not make it for what the corner of the mighty E did to his front wheel and suspension amazingly enough. With a good shop and the impact avoiding my wheel (and a whole lot of other things that would have quickly added up if you look at the pics), the bEast has never looked back with any probs for alignment or performance.

If you do move forward with repair, just keep tabs directly with the shop and try to make it a reputable place. Remember, Dealer owned shops are just that...completely separately owned private shops just like others without the dealer name. Find a big enough place that has good equipment and skilled techs but customer oriented enough to communicate what and how on the work. If I can provide any additional insight to the work mine required I am happy to oblige with such a similar impact.

Best of luck! And again, count blessings you are not worried about this from a hospital bed or sitting next to one assuring a passenger is recovering. This will all pass more quickly than you think.

Doesn't look quite as bad as mine
http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63618

anyway, if it gets above 75% of retail value, they will total it
take off any extras you added and sell on here or on craigslist/ebay

Good Luck either way

Bowser...
I hope to get pics once they start taking parts off, all i can see is surface damge, but I know my E ripped the inner wheel well right out of the bug...and she went limping off so I would suspect suspension damage as well... I choose the dealer shop b/c I have used them before for minor work and always been highly satisfied, but thanks for the heads up...

ouch..sorry your E didn't make it but glad you did.

does anyone know if there are stats published on the rates of serious injury/death of E drivers/ passengers? I wuld be interested...i drive cross country severel times a year and those numbers matter to me.

Adjuster should be looking at it today, they said they will call after...what ?'s should i ask?

Sounds good that you have a working relationship with the shop! Only stats I know on the E's safety is that it has the 5 star rating from the insurance tests.

HER insurance is being a pain, they want the police report b/c she won't answer her phone. So nothing yet..it is at my shop but has not been looked at.....:x

What questions should I ask about when they do?

Got word late yesterday that E is a total loss. :-(

Settlement offer I felt was more than fair, and actually paid it off, so since I do need to log some hours at work this week, I go tomorrow to sign over the title and retrieve my personal things.

Not sure whre I am going from here, we are looking at the new E's as well as chevy traverse (more room for family and friends).

My heart is heavy and I hate bimbette smurf right now.

At least you have some finality at this point. Keep moving forward...

The new Traverse is a very good family car and you already know what the E is capable of...big price differential and different capacities so good luck with your decision.

Again...glad this is the only concern vs trying to get home from a hospital or other.

I sucks that your E is gone, however sometimes it is for the better. I would rather have to go and get a new car than to have to deal with body damages and the repairs. Make sure her insurance forks up some $$$ for a rental car for yourself, until you can get a new car deal going.

Good luck!!

Going to try shopping this weekend for a new ride...have the rental until Monday (TX law only requires 24 hrs after notice of total loss so i won't complain)

I will see it one last time tomorrow, and if they dismantled at all I will try to take pics...it is already at the auction lot.

Will keep you posted on the new choice...just not sure still.

Wish you all the best in whatever you decide on!!  8)

Hopefully it's a choice I'll never have to make (even there IS no "choice" (except for color) for me   )

Glad to see you and your passengers are all ok!
I don't know if there are any actual stats anywhere, but I can tell you from what I have seen here, there has not been a single fatality from anyone here involved in an accident while inside an E. To the best of my recollection, there hasn't even been any major injuries - no one in a hospital or long rehab etc...
Every accident I've seen on here (and I've been here a long time) everyone has walked away from. One notable person has even walked away from a roll over, and had to get out of her overturned E, through the rear hatch...

Ok I'll admit I cried like a baby when I walked away from my E for the last time. :-(

The suspension is busted, I never caught that, but in the photos one wheel is straight and one is turned (still that way)

without the bumper the full scope of a 40 mph impact is revealed....

I decided I need to close the book one E's b/c I so deeply loved this one that I am afraid that no other could compare...this was my baby...took the plastic off myself...

Looking at Honda Pilots test drove the Traverse (chevy) and it felt too much like a wagon still....

I had the same feeling, I LOVED my Element

So, do what I did, buy a CUBE

I drove a ton of the new cars, I miss the space, but love the new gas mileage

Sorry about your loss.. The damage does not look that bad to total a vehicle only 4 years old.

As for the Traverse............. Woorst vehicle ever made... Run Forest Run!

I work on them turds, how about timing chains being replaced at 19,000 miles?
And to replace them requires the engine/drivetrain to be removed from body. I have one in my bay now waiting on parts for 12 days.

They also drive like a big turd way too heavy. But go ahead and buy one, I warned ya.Good Luck.

scored a fantastic deal, bought it.

It was already dark, so I will take picks tomorrow, just couldn't shake the Honda itch, but I knew I could never love another E as much...that wouldn't be fair!!!

...................

Don't!!!! You have a unique opportunity to 'upgrade' to an '07 or '08 SC. While still an Element it has many technology upgrades, mo powa, mo spunk, 5-AT!!!

The Pilot is a land-yacht, and does not run in the same league. If you drive it a bit spirited it becomes a gas guzzler. There is no avoiding that, when moving a lot of mass with a powerful six....

Had an 08 Pilot and loved it. Very different animal in that it's very smooth and powerful compared to the E. As mentioned, it will not take to "spirited" driving without letting you know with a gas penalty. But the good news is that it will get up and go if you want it to. I found it to maintain a great balance of comfort to road feedback...just like all Honda's I have had.

Brief hijack here: I have someone on my very bad list that just bought a Traverse. I love the idea of it bringing much trouble. :-D

OH?

Well just have them follow the oil life monitor, only change oil when the lite comes on. About 1 oil change later the check engine lite will come come on and set a code for timing error.

Good luck, just sit back a short while.

1 week in the Pilot and I am really enjoying it!
I wiss my E, but am glad I chose not to get another...My 1st and only E will always be a a happy place and there is no other vehicle that can compare.

Hope I am still welcome to stick around...even though my E is gone....
