: Replace 2 tires on AWD element?

I recently got a flat on one of my tires that could not be patched. I would like to avoid purchasing 4 new tires since the others have about 60% life remaining. Will it hurt the AWD system if I just purchase two new tires?

Thanks!

it isn't an issue at all. Just make them the same size as the other 2.

I plan on getting the exact same tire (brand, size, model)

even better!

Sticking w/ the same size is the most important part. "actual size or physical dimension" (as opposed to the size listed on the sidewall) will sometimes vary between brand and models (but should be close enough).

You could also just replace one if you'd rather....or you could hang onto the good one that you remove as a spare.

With a 40% difference in tread remaining, I'd be inclined to replace both on the same axle. And put your new tires on the front. You always want your best tread on your drive wheels (which on the AWD E is the front 90% of the time).

Ended up not being able to get the same tires. They were able to get the Kuhmo KL21 instead of the KR21 that I had previously. I replaced 2 on the same axle. They are within .1" in overall diameter and within 5 revs per mile. So far so good!
