Is it just me or do I see sooooo many Elements these days in Charlotte. I can probably spot 5 Es within an 30 min trip to work. Anybody actually an EOCer?

Welcome to my world!! Up here (I actually purchased my E in NC, figure the odds) I see the same number of Es on the road, but VERY few are actually EOC members!!  It's SO disappointing..... :-( :-(

Good luck with your membership call!! :-) :-)

Cello April Fool 79 and Longbrook,

Why Don't we have the next Lunch Meet and Eat in Charlotte. Pick a couple of Weekends and see which date(s) are available. It's Pretty simple. I am pretty sure John G., 2009ELE, and myself would be willing to make it if we are available. Thats just a suggestion. I would drive out to Charlotte even though Raleighs Better

Yes, we do .... 2 of them near where I work, actually. :)

New semester starts Aug 15, and my work schedule will be changing (AGAIN). I'll now have Monday and Wednesdays off, and will start work sometime between 12pm-1pm. So if we're going to do something on a Saturday, it would have to be July 30, August 6, or August 13. Anyone?

I'm off Wednesdays and Thursdays so I would be up for a meet on a Wednesday if your interested. Weekends are still a little tough with my work schedule right now. I still need to get out camping soon. I might do a Wed night to Thursday camping trip around Kings Mt in the near future.

dodo and Blaza..... First off, Welcome! And dodo.... congrats and good luck with the little one! There seem to be quite a few E folks in the Charlotte area, and I'm sure you'll connect up with some who share your interests. And you'll find the people on this forum.... no matter where in the world..... are incredibly knowledgable and helpful.

With you two, together with Eight, E three, longbrook, April Fool 79, misdirection11082, and possibly others, there's a hefty crew in the Charlotte area now. We're planning an afternoon lunch Meet & Eat on Sat, Aug 13 in the area. No location has been settled, so if you have suggestions, put 'em up in the "Double Barrelled Meet & Eat" thread.

Look forward to meeting you!

misdirection11082
08-01-2011, 02:58 AM
The big question is how many are coming from each direction.

John Gaquin
08-01-2011, 07:59 AM
Well, I'd guess about a dozen, max. There are about 7 or so names around the general Charlotte area, but we already know that April Fool (Concord) and Elementary Ed (Greenville South) both have to work weekends. bh241 is just down the road, and there will likely be a few from Greensboro and/or Raleigh who make the trip.

7 or 8 is more likely.

Anyplace around Charlotte would be fine. The north or northeast side work well.

misdirection11082
08-01-2011, 08:52 AM
If we do concord there's concord mills and there's tons around it that way for the road trippers if you get there early you can shop at the outlets. There's a steak&shake in the same parking lot also

John Gaquin
08-01-2011, 10:19 PM
Sounds good to us! Only question I have is regarding Sat afternoon shopper traffic. Pretty high density around there at that time? Anyone familiar enough to know?

Seems about a gazillion different restaurants in the area. Everything from some kind of Cajun Cafe to Denny's. Again, anyone down there familiar enough to pick one?

We oughta be good to go!

maybe we could all drop in to the nascar park for the E-ple 200.

Concord Mills probably wouldnt be terrible to meet at but it does get crowded and the traffic is heavy on the weekends.

Wow, I've been severely lacking on the follow up here! Nice to see that the thread picked back up...

I think the 27th would be good for us. Concord Mills isn't too bad when it's not a race weekend. As mentioned, there's a lot of good eats around there, from burgers to mexican, to BBQ or Cajun.

John Gaquin
08-07-2011, 10:01 AM
... Concord Mills isn't too bad when it's not a race weekend...

Checking the schedule for the speedway that weekend I find:

Food Lion AutoFair, Thursday, August 25 - Sunday, Aug 28, 2011
More than 50 car clubs and thousands of cars will be on display at the Food Lion AutoFair

NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Friday, August 26 - Sunday, Aug 28, 2011
The NHRA Southeast Division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series will visit zMAX Dragway for the fifth of six races.

For those who live around there: would these events together be enough to gridlock Concord Mills?

April_Fool_79
08-07-2011, 10:41 AM
Nah, not really. It'll be heavier traffic than usual, but *NOWHERE* near what you get on NASCAR race weekends.

Anyone in the South Charlotte / SC border area up for helping out w/ some maintenance on my E? I have to go down to my mom's house on Mon, Aug 15 so she can do fitting on my bridesmaid dress for a wedding I'm in, and since she has a nice, flat driveway, I was gonna do my oil change, tire rotation, coolant and rear diff fluid changes. Having never done these before on my own, I'd prefer someone around that knows what they're doing, so I don't royally mess up my car. :)

What time is everyone wanting to meet up.

Generally, we try to meet around 1:00. The tail end of the usual lunch time, and still gives those long-distance E-ple time to get there and back at reasonable hours.

OK, so if someone down there would just pick a place we'll be in business. It appears there's everything from Sonic, Denny's, and Five Guys to Texas Roadhouse or Olive Garden. Sit-down, not fast food, but no budget breakers. (personal opinion: no ribs or bbq this time for me.)

This'll be good!

misdirection11082
08-07-2011, 04:55 PM
Five guys sounds perfect. That lot is a lil small but Quaker stake's lot is right there as well. Or we can do Quaker stake those are pretty reasonable priced.

John Gaquin
08-07-2011, 09:41 PM
Let's give it a few days or so to get some feedback from some people. Five Guys is ok with me, but it IS just burgers, dogs, and fries. No salad or other alternatives. We'll see what folks think.

misdirection11082
08-08-2011, 07:09 AM
Hey I just remembered there's a TGI Fridays next to Denny's. That's definately better than five guys.

What is Quaker Stake a steakhouse? I'm good with just about anything but kinda like John, anything but BBQ or Pork.

misdirection11082

Quaker stake is like buffalo wild wings but car based. I've never been but heard it's good.

John Gaquin
08-10-2011, 09:25 AM
I think I'd lean toward TGIF. The reviews for that Quaker Steak are not horrible, but consistently mediocre. And, its basicly just burgers and wings.

longbrook
08-12-2011, 09:11 AM
Five Guys is good by us! Quaker Steak is a "meh" place, more for the environment than the food. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.

Food Lion Auto Fair can cause some traffic, but like was said, not anywhere near a race weekend's jam. Likely to see some pretty nice classic cars out and about. We'd probably look like we fit in!

08-12-2011, 01:03 PM

I drove this Friday to the airport from Winston to Charlotte and yes, the E density seems high!!!. I spotted at least 5 toasters on an hour span. I guess waving would been not very useful since I was driving a sonata. btw, damm car gave me a solid 30 mpg under my driving conditions. (my E would only yield 17 but I know is not the car but my foot )

I will be posting a pic later on. I just got done moving back to Charlotte yesterday and driving my E around passed about 10 others and they all about broke their necks or watched it for a bit. So my fiancé had a great idea. We put "element owners club meet 8/27/11 TGIF in concord 1pm" on the back window. All the E's around me are completely stock. So we may get a few more people.

Hey there everybody I bought my Element in April and am very glad to find a group of people just as crazy as me! I live in the Steele Creek area, 160 and 49, with my beautiful girlfriend and 2 great dogs Dalton and Deena. Now that I drive one I see Elements on the road constantly in Charlotte and can't help but think that there should definately be a strong group of E-enthusiasts around here. We love to camp and hike so a future group camping trip is in order (Badin Lake Campground?) but until then lunch will suffice :-). I drive a stock '04 SOP EX with a bright green Humane Society of Charlotte sticker in the back window so if you happen to see me give a honk and a wave!
