I have a cheap stereo mini cable now, the sound isn't that great. Any suggestions on what will really help the sound? At home I use a stereo mini to RCA Monster cable to hook it to my home stereo and it sounds great. What will help the sound out in my E?

Which iPod?
I have the newer one with the dock connector. Nice thing about it is the line-level output via the connector along with power in.
The Belkin adapter with the audio out is a great fit for the Element, you only need one cable going to the iPod and don't have to worry about fiddling with the iPod's volume control since the line output is at a fixed level. I just adjusted the output of the Belkin adapter once to get it to match the level of a CD that was playing and left it alone after that.
Since the Power connecter is right next to the AUX IN, the audio cable to connect to the Belkin adapter only needed to be 3 inches. I had a standard 3 foot cable but cut it down to 3 inches, adding a connector from Radio Shack. Now it's very tidy, just the one wire coming out from the dash area.
When not in use I just drop the cable into the glovebox and close the door to keep it from dangling down to the passenger's footwell

What kinda connector did you need, are you talking just a stereo mini cable?

Yes, just a stereo mini cable to go from the Belkin adapter to the AUX In, a distance of just a couple inches

I also picked up a Belkin auto adapter. Unfortunately, I'm having a problem. It powers the iPod fine and the sound is fine if I plug the iPod into the Aux using the ministero male to male. However, if I go from the Belkin mini stero out to the Aux of the Element, periodically the sound quits. Any suggestions?

Evangelist,
I just bought this and it works finr for me from the belkin to the aux input. For my setup, see the ipod thread in this forum.

Evangelist, I think you have a defective jack in the Belkin adapter, or possibly a faulty mini cable. I would exchange the Belkin after trying another cable to be sure. Do you have to wiggle it to get sound sometimes?

i use the Sik imp (http://store.sik.com/merchant.mv?Screen=SFNT&Store_Code=SS), which like the belkin, goes into the dock connector and has a little aux out that i cable wth a 99c store cable to the aux-in.
much better than going out the earphone hole.

For those keeping score. It was a faulty mini-cable. My Element, my iPod, and I are happy again. Thanks for the suggestions.

Faulty cables are a pain. Score one for the good guys.
