: Gas Cap & Warning Light

I replaced my Honda gas cap with a non-Honda locking gas cap. One day later a warning light indicating engine malfunction came on. After reading the owner's manual, I replaced it with the orignal gas cap and ordered a Honda locking gas cap. My question is: The manual says that it takes at least 3 days for the warning ligth to go out. It's been four, should I worry or not. My husband is going to call the dealer tomorrow, but the answer to my question might be of interest to some.

Oh, I was used to a Civic gas cap that one merely tightened, not one that had to be turned until it clicked three times.

Thanks

Speaking as someone who has had the engine light come on, I think it may have something to do with mileage before it goes off. Mine has come on twice, same thing each time, it usually went off after about 60 miles (that's 3 round trips to work). Of course, I would never discourage a call to the dealer if your concerned...and your mileage may vary! :)

I had to take it back to the dealer to get him to reset it. After 6 days and 100 miles it did not reset itself
