: Nokian Hakkapeliitta
joce&mike 10-27-2010, 02:56 PM Does anyone have a set of these?
The tire guy is trying to tell me that I can use them all year-round, so I can just buy a set for my SC OEM wheels.
Would love some advice and/or personal reviews. I was thinking I would get a seperate set for winter and use the OEM's for summer. We get a lot of snow here and it's a must with our Civic. So I want to get on some winter's or something on my E soon!
ramblerdan 10-27-2010, 03:36 PM The Hakkas have been discussed here (browse or search for relevant threads), but the consensus is that they're very good indeed. My '04 is on its second set.
joce&mike 10-27-2010, 03:38 PM you only use them for winter eh?
trying to decide if I should go with the Hakka's or the Nokian "All-Season" ones.
I have Hakkas as my winter tires (I use Michelin LTX M/S the rest of the year).
The Hakkas are a dedicated snow tire. Given they are not cheap and will last a lot longer if you use them only in the winter, I would save them for what they do best.
Ganginwood 11-06-2010, 07:55 AM the hakka's are one of the best snow tires you can get. only the blizzaks are in the same ball park. only problem is the price. i stumbled upon this thread looking for winter tire recommendations.
the hankook i-pikes are the identical tire to the hakka's (they were designed around them) but they don't come in a 215-70-16 which is what my '08 runs and hence my search.
i ordered the firestone winterforce instead and they get great reveiws for the price, but i'm still looking around.
with that being said....if your tire monger is recommending them as an all season tire, i'd find a new tire guy.
joce&mike 11-06-2010, 09:34 AM I ended getting the Hakka's for a dedicated snow tire. The price was the exact same as the Blizzak which I have heard wear faster.
They go on Friday, will let you guys know what I think of them.
becker57 11-30-2011, 05:33 PM I have an opportunity to purchase a set of 4 tires for $250 plus mounting/balancing stock size of course. I checked online and it says they are compatible with the element but they look so burly! I can just see my gas mileage dropping a whole bunch. Any feedback is much appreciated!
atetra 11-30-2011, 08:49 PM Do it. That price is stellar. Why? Well, the Hakka 5 has been discontinued, which means those tires are likely leftovers from last season. But so what. That's easily half price.
I've had great luck with Nokians as winter tires. I currently have a set of Hakka R's on my E and I love 'em.

I am familiar with the Hakks. I had them on my civic but these SUV 5's look so burly..... Maybe the "SUV" part makes me think of huge nubby tires and the element isn't a big vehicle. I can see it looking absolutely ridiculous!
ramblerdan 12-01-2011, 03:25 PM Depends on whether one chooses tires for their looks, or performance.

Have Hankook Dynapro i-pikes 215/70/16s on my 07 EX AWD and love them!
Are they a different tire from Hankook i-pikes? Agree you don't want to roll them in the summer, not just because of unnecessary wear but the NOISE!

I have Hankook Dynapro i-pike snow tires on my E, pretty aggressive tread pattern.
On a recent trip to Wolf Creek CO I got 24.85 MPG, the only thing I don't like is the noise but that is what the stereo is for!:-)
