: Promoting EOC

There was recently a stir on another car forum that my wife visits regarding ways to get the word out about that forum to other owners. She asked me to create some business cards that she could use to "tag" other cars.

So, while I was having fun tinkering around with that, I also created a card to help promote EOC. And I've had a couple of opportunities to tag other Element already. This Adobe Acrobat PDF file is formatted to print correctly on Avery 8371 (http://www.officedepot.com/ddSKU.do?level=SK&id=683177&location_info=SG_1_DV_12_CT_1209_SC_1209002_FM_277 _SK_683177) (or comparable) laser printer business card stock, which gives you 10 cards per sheet. The card stock is readily available at office supply stores but I found mine at Target:

EOC Business Card Tags - Avery 8371 (http://www.2dolphins.com/images/element/Element%20Business%20Card%20-%20Avery%208371.pdf)

(Please note that I'm not suggesting that this design is any better than the one that Tom created - just an alternative.)

hey Ro I noticed that promoting this site is a good thing as well I printed these out myself

http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3685

there is a sticky somewhere on the site forums and annoucments (I think)

but your cards rock I like the back ground....

Ro - thanks for your help in promoting the site. We are easily the largest of them out there, but there are WAY more owners out there than we have members. We just need to spread word to them so maybe they'll join us here.

Rock on!

Hey T Mac, I know you made up the invitations to E owners to join the EOC about a year ago, but I just saw them now. They looked great. I printed some up so that I can pass the word about the EOC. This really is a great forum...lots of fun. :D

Nice Ro-like the animation on the toaster E too!

Not that I don't like the flyers, but this makes it easier to store in the E (in one of the compartments on the dash) so that the next person to ask I can just hand a card! 8)

Hey those are great...but can we get the color of the E in all the colors of the E so we can either pass out our own color or carry them all so we can give the other E owner their own color. I think it would rock to get one if I was not a member from someone with it already done to my color. Just my 2 cents.

i just ran across the threat ... have been using the other stickers so far (i always carry a few in my wallet)

but these are great since they match the bus card template of Avery stock

You are still not waving to me. Everytime I pass an E I wave and you never wave back. I am in your neighborhood all the time looking for you. I do not think that you ever leave the house.

I agree it would be cool to customize the color. Failing that, I think a B&W printout gives a really subtle ghostly appearance to the E!

I taged an E at a furneral home in Pikeville. Had Michigan plates, SOP2WDEX. Put goto, www.elementownersclub.com -TyJ on a play money ten dollar bill. They may of thought it was money at first, but this site is deffently worth 10 dollars to any e owner.

I Taged one more in BJ's Parking lot last night.

Then on the way down to the B.C. Uconn womens Basket Ball game, The wife and i saw 15 E's !! The largest # of them were on Rt. 90 In Mass. We saw 2 in conn. One was stoped at the toll booth, ( we have Speed pass ) so we did not get to wave.

The best way to promote the EOC is by wearing your colors! Stop by the shop and pick up some cool stuff!

I just printed off a bunch of those cards! I'll keep them handy in my E. I've seen other E's in my travels, but never had the flyers with me to "tag" them. This is better I think in that they are more 'compact'.

Thanks for sharing this. I've stored it on my pc for more printouts later on. For now, I've got 20 to start with!

Just had a thought ... how about a space on the back of the card to say something like "you've been tagged by _______"? Where the space could be our user names here on EOC. What do y'all think??

Peace,
Lin :)

Thats a good Idia. I have been using sticky notes. I # them and copy down the plate #, of the cars I have taged. That way I dont Pi$$ the people off, by taging them several times. I sign the note with my user ID.

I didn't tag an E, but I was pimpin the EOC to a fellow Coastie. She is from the Coast Guard academy on her summer training trip. She's got a 2005. I told her about the site. We'll see if she signs up. She seemed interested in it. :D

Hey Dom.five,
Good idea to grab the plate numbers, I haven't been doing that.
I shall start.

I printed out stuff last fall, but in rainy weather I put the info in really cheap, cheap baggies to keep it dry. Then under the wipers!

jurn

That's true dedication to the cause.

I started logging the license numbers some time ago when I realized that I might be duplicating tags on local Elements. Sticking a card on the windshield is gratifying, but it's more fun to meet an owner, talk to them about their E and hand them a card. Complimented a guy at Tanglewood Friday night on his choice of transportation. He seemed like a natural candidate...bought the E for his dog and used the cargo net stretched across the open back hatch to keep the dog in. Also used the Element for camping. It's been two days now. So where is he?

I have yet to recognize a new member as one that I have tagged, but hope springs eternal.

I tag E's all the time but don't think anyone has signed up. I even stopped in to a local bike shop and talked to the owner because he has an E. Figured he was local and drove the greatest car on earth so why not give him my business.

i was just thinking of this the other day. and go figure, you are all thinking about how to do it!!!

i thought about having a half sheet of paper printed off with info on it. like jurneez i figured on having baggies to put them in when it was raining or snowing...

i like the business card idea. quick, easy, compact. i think having the your screen name on there is a good idea so they know who tagged them if they ever join 8-)

what are these stickers everyone is talking about? the one link from Ro is a dead link...

i really like jotting down the license plate so that you don't tag the same E!!!

i see all kinds of Es in Madison and i don't think many are rockin' the EOC.

I tag them whenever I can.

The last time I was at my dealership/service center, I asked the manager if I could put up a flyer for our upcoming meet and put some EOC brochures in the waiting area. He was more than happy to allow it.

Here's a random thought. Remember as a kid at Christmas/Birthdays, sometimes you would have more fun with the box that the toy came in then the toy itself (or was that just me because I got a lot of crappy gifts). Can someone think of a way to word that so it would look good on a t-shirt?

yeah, i can't make it. i will be gone that weekend. i'll have to catch the next one!!

ahh, yes. the girls at the front seem to be in good moods. always nice. and you made a fine choice. the fish hatch group...maybe it's location, maybe because it's attached to the dealership, but i just don't like it. but i like my Grand Canyon Dr folks! Dean S is a great guy over there that i worked with quite a bit when i bought my E from Land Rover Jaguar over on Seybold Rd. might have to talk with him after i install the fog lights that arrived last night :D not sure when i'm going to install them though.....

Sorry we'll miss you at the mini-meet :(

I think the Fish Hatch folks are just overworked... they always seem a bit frantic and abrupt.... much more relaxed and personal (and impressive credentials and training) at Grand Canyon *nod*

Congrats on the fog lights!!

I'll stop hijacking this thread now *grin*

Mini Mini Maryland Meet on April 9

I met FrEEdom for a walk/hike at the wildlife refuge today. When I pulled into the lot, she was parked next to a SOP E. I thought she had called out the calvary, but she didn’t know the E. FrEEdom tagged it, hope they check in to the EOC.

After FrEEdom, her cute little bear-cub of a dog Judah, and I were done hiking we headed back to our Es. The SOP E was still there and yet another E had pulled into the lot. So I tagged it.

Both Es were sticker crazy. I can’t remember any of them though. Can you FrEEdom?

oh dear... stickers... um....

welll, the orange one had a number of mountain biking stickers on it... that was a mom and a couple of kids... they were headed into the visitors center when i parked... the other one.... oh boy.... it was from North Carolina.... had an Airborne sticker on it... and a number of smart ass comments on it... um... oh shoot! There were some funny ones too.... they had attitude.... whoever drove it would probably fit in well....

Here's some pics of the of Es and the 2 Es we tagged. Don't know if they ever showed up here.

Some of the stickers: "You deserve what you accept" "Mean People Suck" "Thought Criminal"

The SOP is the E Jen tagged

... I'm determined to get more locals to join EOC, if it kills me. Must. Have. Big. Mad. City. Meet!

So I decided to step it up a notch with the tagging and get some more serious brochures made up at Kinkos. Same content, but different material, something that maybe will give the E owner pause before crumbling it up and throwing it away.

At first I was gonna get a bunch of brochures LAMINATED... that would REALLY give them pause, wouldn't it?

But then the tab for that gave me a pause: over a hundred bucks for fifty. Umm, no. Not that rich.

In the end, I had 75 made up in BRIGHT ORANGE, half of them on heavy card stock.

If you build them, they will come?

Now that I have returned to Alaska, and, of course, have an E, I have taken the "tagging" idea and run with it. Since AK does not seem to have its own group, I decided to try and generate one, or, at least, some interest. Here are a couple of ideas for the front of my tagging "business" card. Still working on the "back" side, so, let me know what you think..... :???::rolleyes::-D

Makes me wonder sometimes. Here and there I tend to scroll all the way down and every single time the 'guest' number is always at least something around double of the number of registered users. It may be more of a problem getting people to 'take the plunge' and sign up on the boards rather than just come to scroll through the forums. Then again, you have to figure that many people who come to this site usually have some reason - a problem which they are researching online before taking it somewhere and inevitably they will find this site.

I've been trying to spread the word by getting in front of other local E's with the EOC license plate frame, but it makes me wonder sometimes how many of these people already know about it. At the same time I wonder if I'm spreading the wrong message driving an E which has been clearly modified. : x Still, I'll help spread the word. Put the laser printer at work to good use

Don't forget, the "guest" number also includes people who are actual members but who aren't signed in on that computer. A lot of people tend to lurk and just read the threads but never sign in, even if they do have an account, unless they really want to make a reply to something.

I'll probably do the same - can get 1000 for @ 15 bucks around here.

I designed and printed my own (earlier in this thread). But, as long as you have one to help lost owners find our happy "home".......:rolleyes::-D:-D:-D

Hey Tony, if you do, get me a stack too and I'll give you the money at the next meet! I've been tagging people with the back of receipts and pages from my test prep books... would be nice to issue something more formal. : )

Always been a fear of mine!
I'd just have to check the tags and make sure they weren't from New York before tagging it:)

I STILL use the 'yell out the window method' and, yes, I'm thinking of getting some inexpensive business cards too.
I was going to use bar coasters but that MIGHT give the wrong impression of the club!! :)

I wasn't sure where to place this thread so I decided this was the most logical place.

I tag a lot of E's out there with the EOC cards we get with the decals or by writing the website on a scrap piece of paper and placing it under a windshield. I was wondering if there is anyway to get more of the EOC cards? Let's say 100? Or maybe a pamphlet of some sort to print out via my comp and a printer?

I made some with the Avery cards. I don't think I can attach a Word 2007 document on here, but it looks like the EOC cards on the front. On the back, it reads "Nice Element./Come join the So-Cal Chapter.//www.elementownersclub.com.":)

I almost got to tag an SOP next to me in a parking lot but he WOULD NOT stop talking to a woman next to him! At least he saw the decal as I left.
And - there's another SOP new to the neighborhood that passes my house at about 60! Don't know if I should tag him or shoot him! :)

My wife actually sold the idea of the E to someone real sorry he asked. Came out of a store to find her using our E as a demo for a guy and his kid.

**UPDATED PAMPHLET**

I've been working on an updated copy of the EOC pamphlet that Sheniferous produced long, long ago. This can be considered a draft unless nobody has major changes to do. I can provide the original source for it if requested, though it's in OpenOffice since I don't feel like paying the Microsoft tax (and EOC doesn't allow .odt attachments). So without further ado:

Please give it a look and let me know what you think and what changes are needed!

Careful of the Texas ones too, they probably have a shotgun in the back!

Jojo, remind me when you get your shotgun rack built. Only thing is, I need one for my Pardner Pump 12, and I need to be able to reach it from the driver's seat, like the break-out hammer I talked about. Up on the ceiling, maybe?

If I were to seriously look at doing one, I'd just remove the cup holder assembly in the middle and rebuild it to hold a gun and a drink :D

LOL Be very careful about your state laws regarding carrying weapons in your vehicle. Here in Texas, firearms have to be concealed, even inside the vehicle. We hope to get things changed to open carry in the next couple of years.

There's plenty enough room between the back of the cup holders and the front of the sub/trash bin to hold & conceal some pretty serious firearm hardware...

My only suggestion, if you ever feel the need to update it would be to add a QR code of the URL.
