Tires would you put on stock 16 in wheels to give better ride and fill the wheel wells a little better...and yes, I've read all the tire syuff on here, but money always sees to be the deciding factor..

Depends a lot on what use you putting the tires through...pavement mostly or...?

For me, 90% highway and the light duty offroading otherwise, I would usually quickly stand yelling Michelin LTX at a 235 or 225/70 size. I still like them but my General Grabbers (HTS type) have been stupendous thus far at about 40% less cost. Even if $$ were no object, I just like that they work so well.

My 2 cents...

90% highway high speed (75-80 ) and no off road..lots of rain during summers.....Thinking Mich M/S 2 in 225 70 16?

Coming from the Gulf Coast, I know of the rain of which you speak.

Tell you the truth. Michelin's are "pretty good" on wet in my experience but because they are such a long range tire, the harder rubber really cripples this as they get past 50% of their lifespan (past 40k miles). At least that's what I always noticed. Some report worse experiences and some better. THey are still better than average even as they go thru that 2nd half of life.

Now that I have further muddied the water...Have you also looked at Tirerack.com for the survey write-ups? Excellent user info there as you can spend days looking it over.

In general, I have never felt I was going wrong with Mich's and the 225's seem to be the perfect size on the E. You'll have to ask for specific feedback on the M/S series as I have not had those specific tires. Good luck...post pics when installed as we're weird about wanting to see that kind of stuff.

You might reconsider your criteria. Wet and dry traction should trump "better ride" and certainly "fill the wheel wells a little better."

The type of driving and conditions matter very much too! If I did lots of off road driving or lived in Florida I might choose something different.

For me...in PA....I'd prolly go w/ 225/70 Nokians (WRs, WRG2s). I like my General Grabber HTS, but if the price didn't matter, I'd just throw on another set Nokians more often. ;-)
