: Will these fit??
wickster 12-14-2010, 08:57 AM Yes, yes, yes...its another "will these fit" threads. I have searched and cannot find a definative answer...so, im just going to ask.
"will these fit?"
20x8.5 with a 32 offset
AztecRol 12-14-2010, 12:19 PM What rims are they?
What size tires are you gonna run??
With 245/40 R20 tires and the rims being the same as the stock rims
as far as style, you are pushing the tire out toward the fender almost
an inch (0.9"). If you are lowered, you are gonna rub big time. If you are
not lowered, you should be OK.
If you run 255/40 R20 tires, you will be sticking out just over and inch (1.1").
+32 is a little low. I would try and stay above +38 depending on the rim
and what style, how much lip, etc.
If you dont want to tell anyone what rims you are looking at so you can
keep it a secret, PM me with what they are. I can give you a better
answer.

i thought the offset determined the size of the lip? not sure why you would need to know what wheels. wouldnt any 20x8.5 with a 32mm offset be the same? Offset is the position of the hub mounting surface in comparison to the centerline of the wheel.

Offset will be the same, 32mm from the center of the rim to the back of
hub plate. Very true. Offset is not the only thing that determines lip size.
The size of the barrel combined with the offset. You also have to take into
consideration the lip size. I have seen rims with no lip and a +25 offset. They
are really concave, but still no lip. This also determines where the wheel will
sit inside the wheel well.
I see that that rim also comes in 20x8.5 +38. That would be a much closer
fit for the E. If you can test fit one of the +32 rims, put it on the front.
See how much it sticks out past the fender. It will be a close fit, but I think
its gonna stick out a bit. And if you are lowered, you are going to have to
run a little negative camber so they will not rub.
The other thing you need to take into account is with more lip and less
offset, the closer the wheel gets to the brakes. You have to make sure
that you clear the calipers.
I hope this helps. Keep us posted on how it goes!!

thanks for the info. im glad i didnt just dive head first in ordering them. Im gonna have to think about some things. I actually also like the flat (no lip) look. Decisions, decisions, decisions
