: Michigan E-Gathering May 16, 2004
snowshoe 02-28-2004, 11:24 AM We are inviting those Element owners who can't make the proposed east coast rally (which sounds like fun...but is a 12 hour drive from where I am writing!) to join us for a Sunday, May 16, E-gathering and a chance to meet each other, share accessory ideas, road stories, take an easy two-track run for an hour, enjoy a potluck lunch...and of course, take lots of pictures!
We are in Roscommon, MI which is a 3 hour trip north of Detroit, 2.5 hours from Lansing and Grand Rapids, and just an hour east of Traverse City.
We will meet at Higgins Hills RV Park ( http://www.higginshillsrvpark.com ) at 10am. For those who want to come up the night before, the RV park is offering E-owners a half-price rate (just let them know you are coming for the E-Gathering when you make your reservation!). For those who want a few more creature comforts there are plenty of motels in the area. We will have a few grills going...so bring something easy to cook out and a dish to pass for the noon-time potluck. We should be done by 4pm and give you plenty of time to get back home at a reasonable hour!
snowshoe 04-08-2004, 03:43 PM This is just a reminder for those who can't get to the big East Coast meet...and to bring this smaller meet back up on the topic boards radar!
Higgins Hills is just one mile west off of I-75 (exit 244) and 4.5 miles east from US-127 (Military Road/North Higgins Lake exit).
Give a response if you think you can make it! We are looking forward to meeting you!
music&dogs 04-09-2004, 06:51 AM I'm going to look at the calendar and talk with family to see if this would work for us. Will post later.
hownowcb 04-16-2004, 12:54 AM In my mind, I believe I'm going to make the mid-May east coast meet in Pennsylvania. Then again, reality may strike visciously! And in that event, Michigan is a hell of a lot shorter drive for me! So, if I run out of steam half way, and I decide Michigan is a long enough drive for me, will you turn me away at the gates? Keep me posted, and I'll return the favor.
music&dogs 04-16-2004, 07:04 AM Snowshoe, I probably won't know until close to that date if I can make it or not. Are you doing any advertising of the event other than on this board? Our MI group doesn't seem as active as some of the other states, does it?
snowshoe 04-16-2004, 07:10 AM Gettysburg is a 12 hour ride from here...so is St. Paul if you take the northern route through the UP, Green Bay, Wausau, etc! (I would definitely consider any route that avoids having to drive through Chicago if you are headed in our direction!)
Just let me know and I will have a campsite set aside for you...or give you the names of several motels in the area, if that is your preference!
snowshoe 04-16-2004, 07:22 AM Are you doing any advertising of the event other than on this board?
I had a similar post on the HondaElement.org site (which you had initially responded to, as well!). Other than that...no other promotion. I am a tad disappointed that there hasn't been more response from Michigan owners...but maybe we are too far north in the state for them to want to drive for the day. We may be cooking out by ourselves that day!
Or, they may all be headed to Gettysburg!
music&dogs 04-25-2004, 03:35 PM Hey Snowshoe, it's looking like I need to go to a friend's wedding that day so won't be able to make the meet. I have passed out a couple flyers to E owners I've seen around town, though, so maybe you'll hear from some other AA folks.
snowshoe 04-25-2004, 06:00 PM I was looking forward to meeting you! If this is just an all-around bad date (or location) maybe we should think of something downstate later in the year. With the store and an RV park, summers are a tough time for us to get for very long!
music&dogs 04-26-2004, 07:18 AM Actually, the location was rather attracting me. We tend to get land locked in AA for some strange reason, so coming up (over?) there was sounding good to us. I'll get back to you with some possible available dates.
Forgot to ask; does the campground allow dogs?
snowshoe 04-26-2004, 04:37 PM Yes: on a leash, quiet, picked-up-after! :D
music&dogs 04-26-2004, 05:36 PM I'm pretty much fanatical about being a responsible pet owner, so we do all those things. Do you own or manage this camp site?
snowshoe 04-26-2004, 06:00 PM Yes...we own it.
We are about 3 hours straight north of AA.
music&dogs 04-27-2004, 06:24 PM Well, now I want to go back and take a closer look at the web site.
