i apologize if there is a thread for this, i couldn't find it if there is. anyways, I have my Kicker L7's facing my tailgate. It looks very esthetically unpleasing to put a pillow against my tailgate because dynamat won't work. It seems that lower plastic piece still rattles. Does anyone else have similar problems? and if so any remedies? Also, how do most people have their subs oriented? Any noticiable difference between which way you decide to face them?

are you talking about the piece that bridges the gap between the tailgate and the car when opened? You may try adding some felt to the back of it or if you dont care what it looks like when open, remove it.

Yes that's exactly the piece I am talking about. The slider piece that extends over the tailgate when it is opened. I will try attaching a small strip of felt in there and see what happens.
On a side note, I oriented my subs last night to face up instead of facing back like they've been for the last few years. I noticed less rattle, but also felt like I was getting less bass

Maybe try adding some foam insulation on the backside of the folding piece that lays against the tailgate. You can find all different sizes of that foam insulation at The Home Depot and Lowes. The type I'm referring to only has adhesive on one side.
Good Luck.:-)

I went and got a felt strip to put across the back of the tailgate area. It seemed to dim the noise a bit. However, now it seems like I'm getting a rattle from those storage bind on either side of the "trunk" area. I'm going to have to try to look at this deeper because now I'm curious as to the problem. I always thought it was that tailgate connector flap.
FYI having the subs face the rear of the car is way better than facing up imo. I keep a deeper and fuller sound from it...

could it be wires behind the panels?

are there any wires behind any panels you hear rattles. Some times a plastic clip is put around a wire that attaches to a base. If that wire holder came undone or is broken, it would rattle.

Yeah, it could be something like that, or even a loose connector/plug rattling around.
Tonis, does your E' have a trailer wiring harness? If so, the previous owner/installer may have not zip tied it down enough, which could cause it to rattle.

No I do not have a hitch wiring kit. And just fyi, I bought the car new in 2003, so I am the only owner. I will try taking off the pannels this weekend and seeing if maybe a plastic connector has come loose. Thank you for the ideas guys... Will keep you posted

Sorry, I had thought you just purchased your E'
Oh and you're quite welcome, hopefully you'll be able track down that pesky rattle.:-)
