As the title says...

These are being released at International CES in a few days. Final testing was done and these are good to go.

The 70-7863 harness is a complete integration solution for the 03-up Element EX/SC with factory amplifier and aux jack. All harnesses are included for the total integration solution (excluding antenna adaptor needed on the newer E's only) without having to splice or cut ANY wiring.

The 95-7863 is a double DIN solution for all years of Element.

As promised the EOC community is the first to know as CES is a few days from open. Feel free to start asking your local supliers for them :-D

WOW!! Good stuff Yoda. It looks like your sub adapter is "OFFICIAL"!!

I do have a question for ya. You say that the new double DIN adapter
is for ALL year Es, but I thought that they changed the shape of the
radio in 06 or 07. That makes the U shaped trim piece that goes around
the radio different. Does this new piece somehow fix that??

Good work on getting the sub adapter out to the mass market!!

The 70-7863 includes the aux connector as well as the sub harness and the harness from the 1725 that has rcas instead of speaker level inputs.

The 99-7863 and 95-7863 include the "u" shaped trim that goes around the radio trim so it doesn't matter what year you have. It is unpainted and shaped like that of the older LX models so if you want to use an older painted (ex) trim you can space the bottom out 1/4 inch to make it work on those as well.

The very first 99-7863's didn't have the u shaped panel included but that was like 6 years ago now. They have had them for a long time now

Yoda,

The 70-7863 includes all of the harness, can we purchase the Sub adaptor separately?

Since I already have the antenna adaptor and harness.

OMFG tonight was my install and I just crimped all my parts for harness, was about to splice sub cable and came here to make sure I had the right wire colors and I see this.... Where can I get it before I start splicing?

What timing... I wonder if the ebay shop i bought this from would swap it out :(

Unless the above question has an answer... really all i need is the sub adapter.

Yoda E SC
01-04-2011, 09:17 AM
as of now they are only available as a package. It was designed to be a complete solution for the Element. Also, some other honda/acura models use the same connector as the subwoofer harness in the Element, but they arent the same pinout or input type, so the harness for the sub would possibly get used for applications it wasnt intended for and not work properly, thus generating unnecessary returns.

as far as where to get it you would have to speak to you local car audio retailer. most of the stuff that is on ebay is not new product, it is stock that people are blowing out or they got from someone that was blowing them out. you have a better chance of getting them thru an actual authorized reseller. and technically they havent been released yet, so i can garantee that people on ebay dont have access to them yet. ;-)

Could anyone guess when these will be available for retail? They are not even up on the Metra website yet, so I doubt retailers would have them for a while. Any ideas?

I ended up stopping by an installer last night to inquire if they could get this. They called me this morning and said Metra told them it would be another 3-4 weeks before we'll be able to get them. They're not even in Metra's system yet so they couldn't provide the cost.

You need the Axxess ASWC for that. it works much better than the others that are out there and will auto program to the car and radio (if your radio supports steering wheel controls).

That's the one I'm going to buy. Another nice thing about that module is that you can also reprogram what your steering wheel controls do...eg. vol up changed to next track, vol down to previous track.

Visit your local independent car stereo shop. They will likely have to order it since it is a brand new harness. They will have to be setup with Metra direct as they have not filtered thru distributors yet.

Hey Yoda thanks for the great info on this harness. Does the head unit need a something special for the aux to work ? At my local shop they were telling me only certain units could integrate the aux ( they were aware of the new Metra kit). If they are correct what am I looking for in the specs, I m thinking of maybe Crutchfeilding and installing myself???

It needs to have a rear aux input. pretty much any A/V headunit will have them, and JVC, pioneer, sony, etc decks pretty much have them or can get a BUS to RCA type input cable for cheap enough. so do others, but that is what you need to look for.

Florida is where Metra's main manufacturing and distribution center is, along with others spread out across the country to make things get to shops quicker. THing is that when something is new like the 70-7863 harness is they generally end up shipping from Florida for a while before they have time to filter into the other warehouses.

They had some that were packaged incorrectly when the kit first came out that didnt include the u-shaped piece that makes it work in any year vehicle. you will need it for yours as all the 07-up needed it. call 800-253-TECH and tell them about it and they will send you one. They know that there was an issue and are all about what it takes to make it right.

Am working on install, seems to fit ok without u piece. Waiting for carbon fiber film. Tried real carbon fiber, but too shiny. Found a vinyl film thats more matte. Plus, you can shape it over almost anything, using heat. Will post when done.

need to know a little more about your configuration. what radio are you using, are you using a 2 male/one female adaptor on the sub output, etc.

I disconnected everything and reconnected everything, and this time the sub worked? Its pretty good but I still feel it was a tad bass-ier with the stock radio? ( it could be in my head though?) However, would I get even more bass if I used a Y connect to use both sub outs? I do remember Monster Cable use to sell a home theater sub wire that came with such a Y. I'm using the JVC KD-AHD79, as much as i prefer Kenwood, this was the only radio that gave me the front USB and rear aux for the Metra kit.

Thanks for reply

new JVC/Kenwood are the same thing. They have a hush hush merger thing going on, but if you look at some of the new JVC radios out they have the kenwood harness and the signature Kenwood light blue/yellow wired sterring whel control wire in the harness like only Kenwood does. you many get more bass with the Y adaptor in there, worth a shot.

Hi all,
I've been lurking the site for some time now trying to figure out what I needed to do to get my Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD up and working. The radio shop I originally went to bought the wrong harness and couldn't get the speakers to work at all. So as of now, I only have the video part working but no sound at all. Anyways, long story short, I have been without a properly working radio for 2 months now! Finally, I see this thread and HALLELUA an answer to my prayers. I just wanted to find out and make sure what I need to purchase to have my new radio working. Any help would be appreciated. I just don't want to buy the wrong harness or come to find out that I needed to get something extra. I'd like to get everything inone shot. Thanks again for helping out a newbie.

I have a 2007 Element w/ a Pioneer 4300, buy the Metra 70-7863 harness. Use the RCA outputs of the 4300. You also need to buy a antenna adapter. The 70-7863 harness really make this install so easy. Good luck

It sounds to me like they didnt hook up the amp turn on wire in the aftermarket harness to the amp turn on on the radio. if you pull the radio out and check that out you will likely find that was the case and you could have at least some tunes until your harness comes and you get a chance to hook it up right. they probably hooked the antenna turn on to the one that is part of the antenna adaptor and left the one in the main harness un connected.

Love all the great advice in forums today. When building my '08 Jeep Unlimited Rubicon I learned a lot over at JK-Forum and now that I'm moving towards the Element as a fuel efficient alternative, picked up a lot of great info here at EOC.

Ordered all the Metra hardware, now I'm just waiting to decide on the Panasonic 920 or 930, although I don't really care about the Nav, just want the higher resolution screen.

Cant say for certain, but this may be due to "better" mids and highs on your new HU. May also be due to cleaner, less distorted sound.

Moved your thread into here. That kit will fit because it came about because
of Yoda E SC. He invented the subwoofer connection, then worked with Metra
to make the kit.

As for that specific HU, no one here has ever posted that model number. If you
want HU reviews, you are better off in a Car Stereo forum. There are thousands
of HUs that will fit into the E. Maybe Yoda has heard one, and he can tell you
about it. Then again, his ears are going to hear things way different than your
ears are. Someone can say its the best sounding car stereo they have ever
heard, and you hear it and say that talking in a tin can sounds better. Find
the HU with ALL the features you want, and go listen to it.

I originally ordered both the 95-7863 and the 70-7863. Found the METRA double-din bracketry a pain in the rear. Ordered the scosche and used that instead.

As for the ASWC, I also ordered the 70-1721 harness and pulled 2 pins/wires from it to hook up to the blue connector on the other Metra harness to allow me to hook up the lead & ground connection for the steering wheel controls. Just hate cutting into factory harnesses for any reason. Picked up the 70-1721 for about $4.

I'm using it all with the AVIC-X930BT + iPod + Sirius (with SiriusConnect so I can move the sirius receiver between vehicles when needed). Mounted the siriusconnect & receiver near the hatch.

Came out great and so far I'm happy with the x930bt. Did the bypass on it so I can program the GPS while in motion.

Basically, the harness you have will NOT work with the OEM sub. The
Metra harness that is in this thread will work because Yoda E SC who
works in car audio, specifically designed it to work with the EX and SC
Elements. He worked with Metra to get it to market. You can thank him

I have read numerous threads (so yes, I've looked), but just need some clarification.

2010 Element EX. Planning to only replace the HU and use the stock amp & sub. I did replace the 4 door speakers, but the wiring is the same and everything works with the stock HU.

I bought a Kenwood KDC-BT945U HU. It's preamp out. I also bought the Metra 70-7863 harness.

The issue I have right now is there is no sound out of the speakers so I have a few questions:

1. Does the P. Control wire (Blue) need to be hooked up to anything or is this just to power and aftermarket amp? I ask only because I didn't notice anything on the stock wiring to connect it to.

2. Looking at the back of the stock stereo, what is the connector/wiring in the lower left corner with the white plug? I've heard it's for an optional CD changer, others have said it's for the XM radio, and someone suggested it's the speaker wiring. I know the Metra 70-1725 exists, but not sure if I need that cable too.

My guess is I have the right connector, but maybe I am missing a wire connection and the amp isn't powering up. I have power to the unit, just no sound.

http://www.kenwoodusa.com/UserFiles/File/UnitedStates/Consumer/Manuals/kdcx994.pdf
page 70 shows the wiring schematic.

Yoda E SC

The blue wire needs to be hooked to the amp turn on lead from the new radio, it is what turns the factory amp on. The white connector is for the factory XM tuner which is not compatible with any aftermarket radio, only the stock radio.
