Hey all seeing it was a balmy 50 degrees yesterday I decided to wash Regina and get some of the scum off her. So as I'm washing I notice on the rear panel (right in front of the rear tires) that it is really granullated there. I never notied this before and I am pretty upset. So 1. why is this in front of the rear wheels and not the back (you know where debris would hit ) and 2. is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening any more. 3 is there anything can do to get this grainy feeling off?.

I also noticed a bunch of micro scratches that probably would come off with some rubbing compound (BUT ) I am really insecure about abrasives on a new car. any tips/hints on how to get these out

thanks to all who reply

I'm not sure how to address repairing the damage, but am pretty certain it resulted from the front tires spraying debris rearward. That is unless you travel in reverse at high speed a lot. Are you using any stone guards presently?

Yup, it's from debris flung from front wheels.
Since Element splash guard is useless, I bought universal type from Advanced Auto for the front, and does a good job.

If you feel lucky, you might try a heat gun. That's what I would do if I were that concerned. Not responsible for any damage...
