I have a '06 Ex AWD AT and at 78K, my E still gets between 22-24mpg. I've been impressed with the consistency of my gas mileage, considering the shape of the vehicle and AWD. I use 87 octane.

I have the identical Element as you (51K) (they're sweet - ya?) and I can't muster much over 18-20 mpg unless I hit the highway. I do mostly in town driving with lots of short trips so I can't complain.

Enjoy! :food004:

I have a 20 mi commute one way, mostly highway, which helps.

I knew my mpg was going to go down with the 225/ 75/ R16 General Grabber HTS's I put on because it's a bigger tire, but what makes me angry is that my speedo is dead on now. So really we've been tricked into thinking we're getting decent gas mileage with the factory tire size. Makes me wonder if that was done on purpose for EPA and prospective buyer mpg readings. Went from 23 mpg to 19 with the tire change. Highest I ever averaged was 28 mpg right after I changed my spark plugs at 100k miles, then I guess the computer adjusted it down over a few tanks.

Honda is notorious for off speedometers. I have an 02 VTX1800 motorcycle, its off. Check around on google, its almost hilarious how off Honda speedos are.

There was a thread a while back about the inaccuracy of Honda speedos and odos and vast conspirancy by the company to run the warranty out sooner, and bring the mileage up for better sales, etc. I drove on a long highway trip last summer and found that my speedo (and I guess by extension the odo) were spot on with the info on my gps. Donno if that's a good way to determine accuracy but it would seem to me to be.

Our '03 Odyssey was about 5mph off when I compared to our GPS. The Element - spot on. Changed my tires about a year ago to Yokohama Geolander on the Element with no adverse effect. Speed, check. MPG, check.

Our '10 CRV, on the other hand, gets about the same gas mileage as my Element. Hmm. I thought the CRV was suppose to be MORE fuel efficient. Oh well.
