I'm thinking about upgrading my speakers, but need to know if it is worth the investment.

I was looking at Polk Audio DB6501 Components in the front, and DB651 in the rear. I will need to modify the speaker grills to get them all to fit, but I can handle that. I'm also working with the stock stereo of an '07 EX.

Has anyone had experience with this set up that can tell me if it is worth the investment? Will I have noticably better sound quality? Do I need an amp to get better sound quality?

Also, has anyone had experience with the MM series? I was wondering if they are that much better, or if they fit with minor modifications. I know Crutchfield will fit your car, but they won't tell you what will fit if you do minor grill mods.

the DB's are good quality speakers. I had the older versions in my first element, comps up front and coax in the rear. they are efficent enough to run of the stock amp and good enough to handle a low to mid powered aftermarket amp.

As far as the Momo speakers... good luck with that. the 6.5s will not fit without severe mods to both doors. the 5.25s might go in place of the 6.5's, again with modification. If you go Momo make sure you post pics of what you had to do to get them to fit.

The DBs are great speakers, and that combination is hard to beat. (6501 & 651)
Ive done tons of that exact combo in various Hondas, and it sounds very good on the E's oem amp.

The MM is naturally a more capable speaker, but you will find them to fall short on the oem amp because there just is not enough power. Unless you plan to upgrade the oem amp (now or later on), the DBs would be a more logical choice.
