I mean, I'm no expert, but I feel like a crack that I can see through would makes this spring unsafe to go on my Element...

Thoughts?

now WHY on earth would you even post this in public asking if that was normal?? Its obvious that isnt normal! Your first email to me (without a pic) on 3/1 said "it looks like the spring is cracked". I immediately responded with its probably just in the powder coat. Now today 3/8, you send me the pic in email then you want to post about it in the public forum asking if its normal? Is this a question you really need answered by someone else?

First, those springs i bought new and were only in my car for 3 weeks. the only reason i took them out was because Im no spring chicken anymore and couldnt handle the awful ride (i bought coilvers).

Second, that damage WAS NOT on any of those springs when i shipped them! Period! You would have to be blind not to see something like that. I wouldnt have even wasted my time and cost out of my pocket for shipping them ($33), let alone selling them to someone because that is just unsafe!

Third, you received those springs on 2/22. Again, your first email to me was on 3/1 stating "it looks like the spring is cracked". Here we are on 3/8 and you're just now taking a picture of it? I dont think that spring "looks" like its cracked...id say it IS cracked!

Fourth, the fact that those springs where fine when I shipped them, along with the timeline of all this on your end is VERY suspicious.

Fifth, Im posting this publicly because apparently you felt the need to do so before i even had a chance to see the pic and respond to your email you just sent me today!

Sixth, what did YOU do to that spring??? because it sure as heck WAS NOT like that when I shipped on 2/15.

Seventh, now because im really irritated about you posting this publically asking such an absurd question, Im not even going to deal with you personally on this. Im a very reasonable person until im given a reason not to be. Your posting was simply you trying to basically "call" me out on this and I dont take lightly to that.

I know for a fact that spring was not like that when i shipped it, and with how long its taken for you to show something since you received them on 2/22 just doesnt fly with me. So, basically take it up through your moms paylal account!

Easy now Boys ! I have seen that before on replacement springs. It's usually caused when the spring is coiled at the wrong temperature. The people that made the spring will usually replace it for Free...

If you guys work together, without getting upset by it, It will work out fine!

First thing to do is call the maker, and send them a Photo. Then you will have a solid starting point for an equatable solution.

Posting is not always a bad Idea, if you are not absolutely positive. The people on this site can be of some assistance at times. It never hurts to have another opinion. I feel sure that you are both telling the truth. Lets face it Crap happens. Help each other out on this!

Wickster....he did not call you out at all. He posted a simple question without identifying the seller. You busted on yourself by posting a reply stating the seller was yourself.

my point is the title of his post is "are springs suppose to look like this"

is that really a question that needs to be answered? Its obvious probably by looking at the 3 other springs that its not suppose to look like that. Say what you want, but he's no dummy! He knew exactly why he was posting. I could see posting in public had I told him that was normal after seeing the picture for myself.....TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT THINGS!

He should have kept it private between he and I.....PERIOD! Lets face it, a 10 year old could compare the 4 springs and see whats wrong with one of them. Even though these were not sold through ebay, I have a high number of feedback and a 100% rating both as a seller and a buyer. This was just like someone opening up a case before ever even giving the seller the opportunity to resolve anything. Lets use some common sense here please. What 2nd opinion could you possible need on that picture if thats normal or not.

Ive met Drew and he is no child, just a good guy. By posting the question about the crack, I'm seeing his query was if others have had the same issue with springs. By doing so, he got sound advice and explanation from Dom. Just going by what I read regardless of what you two may have going on behind the scenes.

Let's not start a war of words here. How about just getting this resolved to make everyone happy. As Dom said, most if not all manufacturers of springs will warrant their product against a defect. Unfortunately not all will warrant a spring when sold to a 2nd party. So if this is to get resolve it might have to be done by Wickster contacting the manufacturer and 12MPGlol doing the shipping back to the company, etc.

Just a suggestion on one possible way to get this resolved.

I really wasn't trying to call you out, I didn't say your name because I don't think you did anything wrong. Sorry it had to come to this, I know guys over at Megan Racing, I'll just get them to replace it.

Sorry man, I really didn't want it to escalate to this point. I'm a really easy going guy, I don't call people out because it's pointless. I just wanted to see if what I thought was correct, I should have kept in PM but there's that whole "Instant Satisfaction" deal that I love about forums. If I have questions, they get answered right away.

I really wasn't trying to step on anyone's toes, and I'm sorry about this. I do appreciate you spending $33 to ship them, I ship stuff all the time and I "eat" the extra costs all the time. I understand it's no fun, and I do appreciate how much extra you did to ensure they got here safely. It's a shame that when I got the box it looked like it had been handled by the post office terribly.

im more irritated with the situation as a whole more than anything. You posting and asking "are springs suppose to look like this" just really rubbed me the wrong way and definately at the wrong time (i just had to fire one of my favorite employee's). Like I said Drew, you are far from stupid so Im 100% sure you knew the spring was not suppose to look like that. I could see if your title was "Has anyone had this problem with a spring"; or somthing of that nature.

I sent you a PM asking which spring it was. Once you tell me, I will call Megan and see if i can get them to send you another spring. Im a very "literal" person, so your title was not asking what to do about the situation, or asking for feedback on if anyone else had that occur. Your question of "are spring suppse to look like this" only required a yes or no answer which you could have answered yourself. Yea im ranting because I want you and others to understand WHY I took it as a "call out" of me. It made no logical sense in the way you presented it. Granted, you didnt drop my name. However, fish just dont jump in the boat either when you go fishing.

Its all good though...Im sure we can get this worked out and get you that spring.
