all,
I live in PA and I am sitll looking for my E. My mom keeps trying to talk me into something else because of the 7 inches of clearance. I am set on an E.

So here is my question to you all:
What is the most snow you have traversed in your e?
What is the least you have gotten stuck in?

I've never gotten stuck and have driven through 24"+ several times. Just didn't drive very far in snow that deep, maybe 100 or so feet.

I'm in the Northern Midwest and I haven't had any issues besides a few hairy moments on a dirt road. I am pretty surprised at how well it did for me this winter. I have a 99 Tahoe that should have at least a few inches of ride height over the El but I would rather drive the El any day of the week, snow or shine!

We've had a couple of overnight 16-17" snowfalls and my E ran great. Better tires would have helped me run even more smoothly (but those are a summer purchase)
Overall, I would rate my Element as the second best snow vehicle I've ever used (the first being a snowmobile).

I doubt that any of these experiences were as the first vehicle attempting to driving through the cited total accumulated snowfall.

I pushed snow with my bumper from the road to the door of my cabin- about 200 yards, then backed out of it... yep I was the first tracks!

I've spent the winter traveling from NY to VT, working as a snowboard instructor... Over the course of this winter I think I've driven in all or nearly all of the big storms we got in the east and never had any problems. (knock on wood) The element has been fantastic in the snow/sleet/freezing rain/ etc

Sorry, but I absolutely beg to differ. I was able to drive both my Element and my wife's CR-V through that much snow on my unplowed roads this entire winter. Never had any issues doing it. We had several storms that didn't get plowed until early afternoon and we needed to get out before then.

that's pretty impressive,
I have driven locally in PA in most of those storms and they have been pretty nasty

...you mean, - you loaded the E into the back of the Jeep?

I am sure that would work out alright... :-I

I've driven in over 2 feet of snow without a single problem. The E just plows right through it. It's unstoppable!

Plowed through about 2 feet of fresh going from a dead stop out of a driveway in Mammoth Lakes, high centered after about 50ft (it all built up in that gas tank bar). Pulled out the shovel and cleared it, kept on going with no problems.

Got snow stuck in the front honda badge one day. Had to push the E into a snowdrift to let a less capable car down the road and by road pavement covered in packed snow with a bunch of fresh powder on it. Its always a fun choice to say floor it and go for the snowdrift of fresh powder or stop and likely get stuck. I don't think the picture is from that day but its still my E covered in snow.

During the "Christmas Blizzard" this season I drove the E all over southern ocean county in NJ. Many side streets I drove through were unplowed. The two times I got stuck were when I stopped in driveways. The photo is the morning after. The Durango in the pic is on the street. We are always the last to get plowed. Winter tires would have helped, but I was satisfied with the E on stock tires considering I had no choice.

Worst winter storms in memory this year. Traveled through 28 inches of unplowed snow, 5 feet at a time by ramming, backing up and ramming again and again and again. 1 hour later, I managed to travel about ¼ mile and got stuck. The Element pushed a wall of snow in front of it that was just too much. Had to be a 30 inch drift. I was fortunate to flag down a pickup on the plowed road that pulled me the last 100 feet to the main plowed road.

Drove effortlessly the same unplowed road in 15 inches of heavy wet snow a week or so later.

I find if you get a good running start and don’t stop, it will surprise you.

Living in Anchorage, we always have one or two really "healthy" snow falls per year (18"+). I have driven my E for 4 winters in the snow with all season radials and have never had an issue getting through the snow. We have a steep driveway and it is cinch with the E.

sliding off of an icy road is another story...

Fresh snow versus packed snow is a huge difference. In fresh snow I've packed the headlights full before hammering through drifts up to the hood line and I have been stuck in eight inches of wet snow left by a county plow. I run General Grabber AT2s and a brush guard so I have plenty of traction and the brush guard breaks up the snow pack before it hits the flimsy plastic bumper. Just remember you do not know what is hiding in the snow either. I have destroyed two gas tank monkey bars on hunting trails in over a foot of snow from rocks the leaf lickers put out to hurt four wheeler and snowmobile riders.
I wish I had the skid plates from my 4wheeler on the E sometimes cause they are totally nonstick when you run down hippies on the trail buahahahaha.

Once I got out of the driveway it was fine.

One time I had a clearance issue on an uncleared road. The snow was crusted and just deep enough to scrape on the bottom of the Element. It made and awful sound but didn't hurt anything. I just drove to where I could turn around.

I drove through the massive snow storm of 2010 here in Maryland; 10 inches of snow, followed by 10 inches two days later... I was driving through it with no problems and never got stuck once.

Though I live in MD, I am originally Canadian and that was a lot of snow, even for me!

When the snow is wet like we get here a lot my E will have a hard time even with a foot but when we have powdery dry snow it goes through that great. Last year we had 7 feet in a couple days and my truck even had a hard time getting through that even with chains on.:-)

Live in Oregon and I average 70 plus ski days on Mt. Hood/ season. I volunteer with the ski patrol (Host). For 6 years and I've made it to the mountain without much issue. Used stock tires with siping. I feel siped tires are great for the wet deep snow here in the NW. Never needed snow tires.
Biggest issue with the E is that it will bottom out in deep snow.
Also, I have my avalanche shovel strapped to the back of the drivers seat. Used three times to get out of a parking space.
Great Ski/Ride automobile/suv.

I'd like to add that the Element arrives this evening, so I have no experience, but my car is an '05 Saab 92x (Impreza) with less ground clearance, and it is so far very very tough to get it stuck in snow that is much deeper than its ground clearance. I did beach it in a drift, but was able to free it after a bit of work.

I expect the Element will do even better. Excited for next winter! :)

I want to add that the guy down the street got stuck in 6" of snow. He drives a lifted F250 diesel 4x4. Somehow it ground to a halt outside my house - nowhere near touching the bottom of his truck.

welcome to the family... and as far as your neighbor... "They circled the problem"

I've never gotten stuck in the snow, but then again we really haven't had much to contend with for the time I've been in Nebraska. Ice on the other hand, that's another story.
