I have seen a bunch of people with 235's but I was wondering if anyone knew if I could do a 245 with spacers to make up for the potential rubbing. I want something that looks rugged and bad ass all at the same time.

You want to do this with the stock rims?

245 is pushing it on a 6.5 inch wide rim!!

thank you for the info I have a feeling that I will go with a 235/65r16 Faulkens. I have been told that installing wheel spacers are not good for the ride is this true and why? In addition if it is no bad for my E would it be okay to install them on the rear wheels only.

Wheel spacers tend to give a vibration because they throw the balance of
the tire/wheel off. Here is the other factor with wheel spacers. If you run
anything larger than 3mm, so say 5mm up to 15mm, you will need to replace
your wheel studs to longer ones. There is some good info that you can read
in this post about my spacers.

Read my posts starting at #18 and go to post #21.

Here are the stats of mounting the 235s on your E:

When speedometer reads 60mph (96.6km/h) actual speed will be 60.3mph (97.1km/h): 0.5% faster.

Package is 10 mm (0.4'') closer to suspension/brakes components. Acceptable for most cars.

Package will stick out 10 mm (0.4'') farther. Acceptable for most cars.

Will fill out the wheelwell by extra 2 mm. Almost no difference.

The 235 will fit with no problems.

I ran the 245s as well to see what their stats were:

When speedometer reads 60mph (96.6km/h) actual speed will be 61.4mph (98.9km/h): 2.3% faster.

Package is 15 mm (0.6'') closer to suspension/brakes components. Acceptable for most cars.

Package will stick out 15 mm (0.6'') farther. Acceptable for most cars.

Will fill out the wheelwell by extra 8 mm. Acceptable for most cars.

The tire calculator I use says you can mount a 245 size tire on a 6.5 inch rim. That being said, the 245 tire is over 3 inches wider than the rim. If you do mount it on there, it is going to bubble out the sidewalls like crazy. I am pretty sure you are going to rub. If you can be happy with the 235s, I suggest getting them to be safe. You dont want to run spacers unless you absolutely have too!!! I get a vibration from the front a between 70 and 75 miles per hour, as an example. As soon as I get the proper rims, I will be getting rid of the spacers.
