I read that because of additives and protecting the engine, its recommended waitin 7500 before the 1st oil change. What's up with that?

Hi. I'm brand new myself to the "E Family." But from everything I found on the message boards AND from looking in the manual I think you can wait until 10,000 for your first oil change. From what I understand, it has something to do with the special oil Honda puts in the cars at the factory. ... Something to do with getting the engine parts all broken in. What can I tell ya ... I'm a girlie person ... I don't understand the whole engine-thing. But 10,000 miles seems to be the consensus (and manual).

At least I'm planning on waiting that long.

I hope that helps.

I changed mine at 5150 miles, and the oil was very dirty.
No way i'd drive another 5k miles with oil that dirty.
I'm getting better MPG as well since it's been changed with Mobil1.

Probably mostly due to warmer weather, huh? Somewhat due to the oil, though.

Oil change was a week ago, and since then I ran through one tank and half way through second, and mileage improvement was immediately noticeable.
When I changed to synth on my motorcycle after initial break-in, it smoothed out the shifting noticeably, since transmission shares engine oil in bikes.
It can be argued back and forth, but I am a firm believer in synth oil, not based on forum opinions, but by experience.

Definitely. I used Redline MT90 in the gearbox of my previous car and I think it helped a lot. I will probably eventually do the same on my E.

I plan to do my first oil change at 5,000 miles regardless of what kind of oil was supplied from the Honda factory. I have always changed oil at 2,500 mile increments on previous vehicles (Accords, RX-7s, and VW bugs) with great engine life success.

I think I will switch to synthetic oil for the E, and change every 5,000 miles.
