Good Day EOC,

We currently have the BF Goodrich All Terrain 225/75/16 with the 16/32 tread depth (new of course) on the stock EX wheels. We are looking to upgrade to an 18" summer wheel, but Tirerack is recommending a 235/50/18 tire.

We want to stick with a 225/??/18 with a 10/32 tread depth, but want to know if anyone is running a 60 sidewall height on an 18? Are you? Please let us know if there is any rub or strut issues. We do not have our E's lowered because we are constantly running them with our toys inside or on top.

Sincerely,

The Hulls

why not just go with the factory SC tire size of 225/55/18? The overall diamerter is the exact same as your current whee/tire so there will not be any speedo issues either

Hey! I'm running the 225/60/18 Yokohama YK520 on SC wheels. It doesn't rub at all. It's close. Here are some pictures:

Tirerack will give you the MOST conservative tire recommendations. They dont
want to put tires on then have to eat the cost of remounting new tires because
the ones they recommended rub.

You never mentioned what 18" rims you are going to put on the E. I can tell
you what will fit with the SC rim on your E, but if you change your rim, what
I say below wont matter unless the specs are EXACTLY the same as the SC
rim. If you get a rim offset that is way different from that of the OEM SC
rim, the tire sizes below, may or may not fit. Post up the rim you are changing
to. I can check the specs.

You can safely go with the stock SC size which is 225/55 R18 as wickster said.

As you can see, 225/60 R18 will fit as mmjcarr has them on his ride and they do not rub.

You can also go with a 235/55 R18 and not have any problems with rubbing.

IMO, the 235/50 R18 is a little small. 235/60 might be too tall and will probably
rub. It will 6mm closer to the wheelwell than the 225/60 R18 that mmjcarr has
on his E. From the looks of his pics, there isnt enough room for an extra 6mm.

I too run 225-60-18 on my summer wheels. I run 225-75-16 snows on my winter wheels. IMO they fill the wheel wells just right and the larger sidewalks contribute to a slightly better ride. Sooty, on vacation this week, so no pictures.
