Has anyone noticed a hard knock from what sound like the A-pillar when you go over bumps? Almost sounds like the door is not really closed - but it is. Let me know.

I've noticed the same problem. I've noticed an up and down knocking noise coming from the rear drivers side door as I go over bumps, etc. A rattle like something is loose, as if the door is moving up and down.

Any suggestions?

Look at the lower door checker where the 2 doors latch together. Something may be loose....?

I have been having the "loose door noise" on the drivers side too. I can even feel and hear a difference when closing the drivers side door vs. the Passenger side.
I guess its because there is no support ? Twisting and jarring from hitting bumps. :( Not cool.

Wait, Are you all refering to where the front door meets the back door? That's where the noise I'm hearing is coming from. I wonder if I could use some kind of felt adhisive or something to prevent the metal from touching. hmm?

Having the dealer adjust the door latch striker has been the usual solution to noises in the side doors. The rubber gaskets prevent most metal to metal contact - between the doors and the body. There are better threads regarding noise in the doors.

Same thing here - rattle in the driver door rear. Seems quite common. I mentioned it during my first service visit, and they corrected it with a bit of foam (according to the write up). Haven't had it since.

Mine developed this sound about 2 weeks after I bought it. Dealer adjusted latch and that fixed it.

What kind of rattle is it?

Yesterday I heard an occasional noise like a click. At first I thought it was that my keys we occasionally banging the steering column but then I think it was coming from the rear area. It was not a squeek or rattle but an occasional click. It did not seem tied to times I hit bumps but seemed random.

Is this what you are hearing?

Aargh! One trip to a dealer and multiple phone calls to both Honda and two different service departments and I still have the same problem. Sounds like a tack weld is loose, and the latch is moving around. It doesn't do it every time I close the passenger side doors, about 2/3 of the time. Of course, the ride I took with the service guy was in the 1/3! I have a slightly out-of-line right front fender, as well, which I will fix myself, if my trip to the local Honda dealer is representative. I would love to know what that foam fix looked like, and where they placed the foam, though. THanks!

Same problem here. The knocking in the doors has been there since I bought my Element in 2004. It's been in the shop twice. First they adjusted the jams and then replace the driver's side latches. Neither has worked. I'm out of warrenty now but am goinf g to take it back again. I also seem to get a lot of wind noise between the doors. The loud stero seems to fix that, though.
