I believe that about the cars in Califiornia. When I referred to California it was for the one truck with the hydraulics that looked like it had fallen over. Most of the older cars were pretty much stock. The 60 Cadillac even had the original interior. It had been painted but with the original color. The guy with the Caddie wanted me to join the Cadillac-LaSalle club. I told him I didn't have a Caddie and he said you didn't have to have one to join, that they were trying to instill the history of the Caddie in younger people. I think most of the members of the club are all retirement aged guys. I may call him and say if he wills the 60 Eldorado to me I will join the club and become a very active member. That car is beautiful.

That '70 Boss 302 brought back memories. Next-door neighbor had one when I was a kid. The stock exhaust had a distinctive "burble" to it. The one at your show would be very nice... if it wasn't lowered. Lowering is a '90's thing, and out of character with that car.
And I thought all Eldorado convertibles in Texas are supposed to have longhorns on the hood. Required by law, you know.

Never was exposed to a Boss. A guy in the neighborhood had a Mach 1. I remember the day we were working on it and had rebuilt the carburetor. He was a big boy about 6'4" 240. He took it out on the road and got on it. He damn near ran into his families house. It broke the seat. When he sold it, it probably still had the seat belt wrapped the wrong way around the drivers seat to hold it up. That was one of the most distintive looking Stangs.

>Mach 1
I guess I should have mentioned in the same breath that my dad had a '69 Mach I right around the same time. That car would friggin' move! Once I was old enough to drive it, (in the stupidity of my youth) I tried to find the top end. I got too scared around 150, but it still had more left. What a monster!
But the Mach I had the Windsor 351, which still didn't sound nearly as nice as the Cleveland engine in the 302. I think Ford went to the Cleveland 351 in the '70 and later Mach I's, anyway.
