: Drive Through Wash & Wax - Panels OK?

If you take a classic Element (plastic panels instead of painted) through a drive through car wash that includes wax will it ruin the panels? I've never done it before for fear of disastrous results but thought I'd ask. A local detailer here does great work and their more expensive options include the drive through wax.

Anybody tried it?

If it's the colored foam type that they use in touchless car washes, then it shouldn't cause a problem.

I don't recall having car-wash problems with my 2003 E. I didn't get into trouble until I started trying Armor All on the panels. And the car wash certainly didn't produce the white stains that (still) happen when I wax by hand.

I guess I'll find out soon. I went today and got the full service including the wax. If it makes my panels white I have some 303 in the garage and some peanut butter in the cabinet so I guess I'll be okay!

I think you'll be okay. But be sure to post back the results.

well i got all paranoid and went out and put a quick layer of 303 on the panels. it was quick and easy and they look better anyway so I guess my test of "will it screw up the panels" is now flawed!

...what happens with the Armor All ?

I have the painted panels but still have to take care of the black side tops

My panels faded. Check out this thread (http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44377&highlight=Armor+All) to see what others said.

I think it would have faded. It looks kind of funny after 303'ing it when I got home. I think now I have a mix of "trying to fade" and "303 sheen". I guess some peanut butter is in my future, but after my vacation to the beach!
