What is the bulletin to refer to about reprogramming the automatic transmission computer?
Some of the chit chat on the problems section refer to a bulletin. Apparently there is a issue with shifting of the transmission causing a fluttering as it hunts between gears, ususally during very light accelleration between 20 and 40 miles per hour.
Some suggest that the fluttering may lead to transmission failure. I am sure the fluttering is hard on the trans.
I would like to be better informed before I approch the Dealer. One Element owner said the Dealer charged them 100.00 to do the Bulletin update.
Any information would be helpful.
My vehicle is a 2007 Element 2wd LX with the 5 speed automatic. 45,000 miles.
I have found that I can eliminate the flutter by using the button on the shifter that keeps the transmission in 1,2,3. and it blocks 4 and 5 from working. Of course the engine will run at a higher RPM and the fuel economy is worse, but the trans is not suffering more possible damage.
Thanks, Glen
