: "Summer Mods!!!"

I usually do all of my modification work over the Winter months! But this year for some strange reason I got the "Mod Bug" in the Summertime! I bought the Element SC roof Cladding and lowered my roof line by 1 1/4".

But that wasn't enough, I then ordered the JDM fenders, JDM side marker lights, and the JDM Gas Filler Door from Japan and added that to my ride!

I thought that was enough, but then I decided to go for the 2009 Element Navigation System and Back-Up Camera. But instead of having the back-up camera down by the license plate, I got rid of the rear windshield wiper and installed the camera there!

So basically, this is what I've been up to lately! ;-)

HOT! I wanted to the sc roof cladding, but chose to paint mine instead because the sc cladding IS NOT cheap. Looks great!

Duude, looks great. I was just eyeballing SC roof cladding, but after that price line. Maybe I'll keep it on the back burner. But I agree, you are just getting started!

That looks really nice.

One question about the gas door. How do you get it open? Is it spring loaded or what?

I really still have a lot I want to do with it, and it's taken 6 years of mods just to get to this point! ;-)

I really look forward to meeting you, and Rolie is coming down from San Francisco for the Fall Classic. :-)

Thanks man I really appreciate it. Not only are the SC roof line parts expensive, but you have about eight raised brackets that are welded to the roof that have to come off in order for it to fit. Those are for the regular Element cladding and the roof racks. Then I had to drill and tap the exact same spots in the ceiling for the SC cladding. It was a pain in the rear! :|

BTW, I've been following your thread from the very first post and I love it! :-D

I'm currently modifying the push open mechanism from an old Mustang Billet Gas Cap Door that I will be installing in it. The RHD Japanese Element had the same set up as the American Accords and Civics.

That's correct, and they are 1 1/4" lower than a regular Element. The six pieces were $947 at the local Honda dealership.

Thanks for checking it out! ;-)

Chief,

I almost missed this thread . As always, another round of well thought out modifications. The SC roof molding is nice, gives Darth Raider a sleeker look. That navi system is awsome, the fuel filler door and the JDM fenders are just the personal touches that make the Raider a cut above. The planning process and execution of these mods, as you know, are a PITA but the results always speak for themself. Well Done!!! I know that you are not finished!!!

I guess I will have to make an effort to get some of my latest mods installed before the Fall Classic :-D.

For those who are thinking of attending the Fall Classic, Darth Raider looks better in person.

Thank you JSmOOth, you're too kind! You really are one of my best sounding boards when it comes to mods I'm considering. Plus you know the planning, the time, and the effort that goes into each one, so I really appreciate your support. Now let's get some of your new ones done! ;-)

Thank you, most apprecited! The rear windshield back up camera has been the plan for the last six years. That's why I originally got rid of the the rear windshield wiper and had the Civic Hatchback plug in there until I got around to it. But you definitely beat everyone to the punch, and you were the first to make it a reality! I was impressed the creativity and the foresight that you put into your own mod. ;-)

But once the 2009 Honda Element Navigation System came out I knew that I was not going to go the aftermarket route (except for the camera). I figured that sooner or later, the opportunity to get an OEM unit would present itself, and it finally did. I am truly happy that I waited, and I am extremely pleased with the results.

You're welcome and thanks for the compliment, although I don't know if I truly was the first to do that mod on an Element. Maybe just the first to actually share it on here. :-)

Keep up the great work Chief, can't wait to see what you've got in store next.

Quick question Chief, where would I be able to get my hands on the JDM HID headlights, specific websites or locations I mean. Would it be easier to install HIDs into the current halogen setup (which is apparently legal in BC since I see tons of cars on the road without retrofits sporting HIDs) or purchase the actual JDM HID units?

And in terms of installation, on a scale from 1 to 10 in difficulty?

There is no website for JDM HID headlights, so If you are fortunate enough to run across a set, then "grab them!!!" :-D

If you check the search feature here on the forum, you will find several threads dedicated to it installing HID's into the OEM headlights. I even saw a recent pic on here where a guy had customized his headlights into dual HID's on both sides.

I personally always wanted the factory HID's, so I just waited until a set materialized.

Haha I just saw this thread! You always do the best mods!

Thanks Hector, that means a lot coming from you because I totally respect the mods that you do to your own ride!
