Hey all,

I had a 'clunk' sound when going over bumps in a turn. It just started Sunday. My passenger side back seat was loose where it mounts to the side. I removed the seat following the instructions in the manual and replaced it. No more noise. I have no idea how it worked loose but, I did drive around all day Saturday with the seats flipped up (big dog day).

My Element has "the clunk" too. I removed both rear seats and it STILL does it. What's up with that? :(

Check the spare tire area.

Probably totally off the mark, but my last car had a design oddity where the gas tank would 'clunk' when it was about 50% empty... they told me it was just part of the way the car was build. Doubt that's the case with the Element, but I figured I'd mention it anyway.
