: AAAARRRRGGGGGHHH (Charlie Brown) I NEED HELP!
lae10851 03-20-2004, 12:22 PM OK So I live in Santa Rosa (Home of the late Charles Schultz) which has nothing do to with this thread other than it seems an appropriate start as I am frustrated about my lovely dog (see avatar).
Last night I took my doggies shopping with me. I have 3. Keetna, our austrailian shepard mix has a little SA problem. Usually with her brothers she is ok alone in the car. So I went to Wal*Mart, Trader Joes, and then stopped at Costco. While I was in Costco, She decided the Belgian macadamia nut chocolate bars, frozen Mandarin Orange Chicken, and Very American Salad, and a dozen fresh eggs were too much temptation.
Luckily, the only hard parts to clean up were the egg yolks (found in the cup holders in the rear seats and on the floor (oozing under the center console) and the chocolate. I cleaned up all the egg mess, but how am I going to get the chocolate out of the fabric????
Any ideas are welcome. I really need help quick. This happened last night at 8PM. *** Note: Please no responses about driving around without kennels/crates. I just learned my lesson the hard way.

I'd be MUCH MORE WORRIED ABOUT YOUR DOG.
My understanding is that Chocolate is poisonous to dogs!!!

lae10851 03-20-2004, 12:52 PM Brendan,
The dogs are all fine. The poisonous chocolate is the baking kind, i've been through this before when Keetna decided to eat 1/2 a 9x12 of brownies sitting on top of the stove.
Thanks for your concern.

HappyCamper 03-20-2004, 01:55 PM Amy, you might try some blue Dawn and warm water on the seats. Movers had gotten a grease spot on the fabric of one of my dining chairs. I of course freaked, but the owner remained calm He asked if I would try some undiluted blue Dawn on it, followed by warm water, then give him a call if that didn't work, so that then he could try something else. To my surprise, it took me all of 5 minutes to clean it up with no trace of the original grease mark.
As for chocolate and dogs, any amount of chocolate causes diarrhea in dogs. Whether life-threatening depends on the concentration of chocolate in the product and the amount eaten compared to the size of the dog (an amount of Hershey's dark chocolate is riskier than the same amount of Hershey's milk chocolate). I know because a well-meaning friend used to insist on sharing a candy bar with my Scottie as a treat for her, thinking that just a little bit wouldn't hurt. I had to do my research to convince him that it was betterr not to give her any chocolate at all. Another friend's Yorkie recently got into some French dark chocolates, and it made the Yorkie sick enough to end up spending the night at the emergency vet's so that they could monitor her and keep her fluid level up. So best rule of thumb is that dogs and chocolate don't mix. Just fyi.

*******&me, I think that maybe Dawn has more grease cutting ability than the other brands. The Zaino Brother's car polish site recommends Blue Dawn specifically for washing the car prior to polishing, to remove any old carnauba wax and grease....
id: 635 03-20-2004, 04:06 PM that's very interesting - i always use Ivory liquid to wash my car(s) - because it's supposed to be so gentle to the paint.
id: 635 03-20-2004, 04:23 PM back in January, I posted the link for the FXC fabric protection on this thread:

if you scroll to the last message on the page - the link is there - see if that works
