: What HU and keep AUX input?

I need to keep the AUX input for whatever headunit I get because all my music is on my Rio Karma.

I am preferably looking for an Eclipse unit. Only HU I have used in my other cars and they are incredible. Clean signal and great user interface etc... Can't be beat in my opinion. (this is an opinion like I said so let it go at that... )

I am open to suggestions. Looking to spend in the neighborhood of $400.

I put a $100 Aiwa HU with aux input into my DX. Other people must provide aux inputs, but Aiwa was to only one I noticed at the lower end of the market.

In looking at PDA mounts, I noticed that there are wireless connectors for use with MP3 and other players. I think they are just low power FM transmitters that plug into the headphone jack of the player.

Not exactly what I meant... What I am looking for is a HU that has someting on the back that I can hardwire the AUX input from the dash into. I would imagine that this is doable with the proper HU...

That's what paul just said:

You need any head unit that has a pair of aux-input female RCA jacks (typically hanging off the end of cables due to space issues)...

...then do something like this:

Ah ha. I thought paul was referring to a plug on the front of the HU as some of them have. Sorry...

Thanks for the info.

The Aiwa does have the socket on the front. Since I don't have the built in socket on the dash, there was no incentive to find a HU with an aux input on the back. Does it matter whether the socket is on the HU or on the dash?

I have an EX with the socket on the dash. I would rather have a head unit that has an input on the back that I could hardwire into the one one the dash. I think after some more research that the Eclipse units that I am looking at have them. I'm gonna head over to Tweeter this afternoon and check it out with some of the installers there...

Heh, ok guess I was wrong. Anyway, hope the wiring URL helped.
