Just to remind everyone I am doing an EOC meet again this year. Here are the specifics:

Dates: 7-26 thru 7/30.
Location: Dexter, Maine at Wassookeag Lake.

Since we have gone to the Mid Altantic region the last 3 years I have decided to go north. All are welcome. I know this is out of the way, but after the heat of last years meet, I wanted something cooler. Dominic and I have camped here several times. Lots of eagles, loons and moose. Lake is perfect for kayaking and swimming. There is a bathhouse with showers and flush toilets. Town is only a mile from campground. Let me know if your interested.

For those that have never been to Maine, it is a beautiful state that offers many adventures.

The campground is located at the intersection of Rt 23 and Crockett Rd.

I will post more info re campground and surrounding area later.

Basically no new news just want to keep in the forefront.

Is this lake approved for motor boats and wave runners?

It is approved for motorboats. Not sure about wave runners. Will check on that. As far as the boat is concerned to get to the bigger part of the lake you need to fit under the bridge. I'll check on height restrictions. The launch ramp is within the campground.

Check out the above link. They have a great pic of the bridge that separates the two lakes. You can kinda get an idea of the height.

Looks like there is a Shop 'n Save supermarket (http://www.hannaford.com/custserv/store_detail.jsp?viewStoreId=20703) right in Dexter. That's cool!

What's the campground? I haven't found it online.

It is run by the Dexter Fish and Game. Here is a link: http://dexterfishandgameassociation.org/

You do not need to make advance reservations. Dominic and I are taking care of that. We just need to get an approximate head count. We will let everyone know what the daily rate is soon.

Dominic and I have camped here a few times. The Shop 'n Save is about a mile away. Plus there is a Reny department store located in town. It is a nice scenic area. We may bring up our ATV. There are extensive trails in the area. There is a lunch/dinner place adjacent to the campground.

Bangor is about a 45 minute ride. Bar Harbor is a little over an hour away. Plus Moosehead Lake is a about an hour drive. And just north of Moosehead is Baxter State Park, home of Mount Katahdin, which is the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.

Thanks. The DFGA Web site is pretty sparse. Any idea if dogs are allowed in this camp?

Jurn and I are likely for this.

Dogs are allowed. The usual guidelines for dogs. Keep on a leash, clean up after the dog(s) etc.

I am sure they will be updating the camping section soon. They had some conflict with the town about permitting, which just got resolved at the last town meeting.
