: No One Waves Back At Me :(
s2kmugen 03-24-2004, 11:36 PM as an s2k owner, when we sell fellow owners around town, strangers or not, we always acknowledge each other by a simple wave, knod of the head, or even quick flashes of the high beams. I tired a few times to fellow E owners... but get a "confused" or ignored look... Anyone else have this problem around town?

I used to do it when Es were rare, but now I see them every time I'm out on the road. It's to the point that I'd be waving every minute or two...

music&dogs 03-25-2004, 07:01 AM Yes, same here. I've had so little response that I feel silly waving at folks anymore so I don't. But if I see someone in a parking lot I will walk over and ask how they like their E, and then people seem happy to talk about their car. I wonder if folks aren't on the internet sites they don't know there is kind of a connection going on among us.
rhsieh 03-25-2004, 01:38 PM there are 3 other E owners I know of within 2 blocks of my neighborhood. i get to see at least 3-4 Es within a 15 miles commute every morning.
just two days ago, i parked my GGM E, right between two other GGM Es in front of my local library.
E is a very popular car here in the Silicon Valley. waving/honking at other E owners has become silly, if not rude.....

SeattleE 03-25-2004, 03:23 PM (wave...wave)
jesse
Majisto 03-26-2004, 11:53 PM Try doing that in an Explorer. I don't see that many Es around Austin...at least, not the Arboretum.
MarkZ 03-27-2004, 08:15 AM There's only about 4 or 5 E's in my small town. I pass one of them on the road every couple of days. The older gentleman that owns it always returns my wave. I have never passed the others in town. I always see them when they are parked.
The other day I came out of Walmart, there was another E parked right next to me. I didn't see it's owner. Unfortunately, it's windshield was cracked.
music&dogs 03-31-2004, 03:30 PM Well, now every time my teenage daugther and I drive past another Element and the driver doesn't acknowledge us or our E, she and I look at each other and say, "SNOOTY BASTARDS".
niblo1 05-19-2004, 12:23 AM I try to wave at E owners all day....Problem is I'm in a Crown Vic with lots of lights on it, and decals and a siren, and they get real nervous. I started to pull over an E the other day just to say HI, but I figured they might not understand, and they might complain to my Sgt. ....he he he :D :D :D
drphun 05-19-2004, 07:56 AM I wave and people wave back, but I have been seeing a lot more E's lately so I may not be doing it much longer.
napoleon_E 05-19-2004, 01:36 PM I still rarely see a Fiji Blue Element.
I think I have seen 1 other one in the last 3 months.
I think I have the only FBP Element in the PA, NJ, DE, MD area!
I still enjoy waving to other Element owners. I actually try to catch up to Es when I see them on the road.
jasonc74 08-07-2004, 01:35 AM The neighbors across the street from me own a SLM EX AWD like mine and every time i try to make eye contact to say a friendly hello how do you like your element, its like they blatantly ignore me. Maybe they are upset that i bought one like theirs a few weeks after they got it. I dunno.
And then what is the deal i flash my lights like a mad man and the SB (Snooty B...) are oblivious. Every once in a while ill get a smile and a wave but its rare.
Alot of times its like the drivers of E! are in their own little world [element] and are oblivious to the world outside the box. How do these people avoid accadents? Maybe the accadents are avoiding these people. I dunno.
And there will never be too many E!'s on the road to quit being friendly.
I need to print up some EOC business cards to put on all the E's i see around Houston. They are everywhere but the lack of comradery makes me wonder if they know what they are driving hehe
MichelleTX 08-07-2004, 02:23 PM Come to Pearland and I'll wave at you!
I wave at the other Es I see but that's usually only one every few days. There's a GGM I see the most but have only gotten a wave back once. There's also another SOP I see with a meanish looking driver! She scares me so I don't wave.
The other night my husband and I went out to the movies and saw two Es parked next to each other. I so wished we were in mine because I would have added a 3rd! But too bad we were in hubby's Civic. hehe
The EOC cards are a great idea. We need to get more Houstonians and other Texans involved!
Dr Funkienstine 08-07-2004, 04:18 PM :P
not to many around here but when i do see one we always wave at eachother
i guess canadians are just more curdious
ps. but were not all smiles and sunshine you know
music&dogs 08-07-2004, 06:38 PM I get or give an occasional wave. There are getting to be so many of us now. Used to be I thought a certain personality bought an E. They're becoming more mainstream and all kinds of folks buy them; some folks who probably have little to no interest in waving at me :-)
foxtail 08-07-2004, 08:41 PM Saw 2 other E's in town this afternoon. Waved at the first and got ignored. We decided that they were Snob-E's.
The second E honked and waved at me first- not Snob-E's!
Then when we came out of the restaurant this evening, there was another SOP right next to mine! Left them a note that said Hi and Check out the EOC!
Dr Funkienstine 08-08-2004, 01:19 AM
i find if you are going to leave a note
nothing says hello like a jackolantern with a knife stuck in it
ps. why do people think that Jethro Tull is just a person
Sheniferous 08-08-2004, 01:28 AM i stopped waving cuz other e owners look at me like i'm crazy.
not everyone shares the same enthusiasm for the element as we do on the boards!
subie1 09-11-2004, 05:12 PM I thought it was only S. Florida where people were rude and oblivious to the outside world. That happens to me all the time. I will wave at another E driver and they look thru me like I was invisible. Sometimes I get the look like what the hell is this guy honking about or why is he waving at me? Maybe I just assumed all E owners felt kind of like me about their Es and wanted to share that enthusiasm. Thank goodness we have the EOC at least.

Thefifthelement 02-25-2005, 09:16 PM We'll wave!! We just got our E and love the looks and attention it gets. We've seen other E owners on the road and they are looking at ours as much as we look at theirs. I think the EOC cards are a good idea...I might see if I can put together something.
Just thinking...I've noticed that if you have fairly dark tint on the front windows, it might be too dark for someone to see you waving? So, don't stop waving yet! This site is great and we love the posts here. There is a uniqueness among Element owners.
special k 02-26-2005, 07:27 AM here in the Marysville, Ohio Area E's are probably more commonplace than elsewhere so it may not be as much of an E thing here. When I see one though I pout a little because I'm still waiting. I'll wave though when I get mine :)
LEGO MY E 02-26-2005, 11:00 AM Personally, I have witnessed 3 Element drivers picking their nose while driving... if I can see them, they certainly can see my wave (!) but I usually don't get a response anymore.
Perhaps there are too many rich *******s (i.e., former Lexus drivers) now driving Elements that the owner appreciation level has dropped? "eew... no carpet? I might get my "Emma Hope" shoes dirty... eew... no leather interior? I might have to touch synthetic fabric... eew... so much cabin noise? Calgon take me away... eew... what's an MP3? Isn't that what poor people listen to? eew..."
Snooty bastards all!
Anyhoo... I'll never stop waving. Eventually, the SB's will return to their Lexus when they realize the Element was intended for FUN people!! In the meantime, I don't want to look like an SB myself so I'll gladly extend a five-fingered wave!! :)

LEGO
Maybe that's why they don't wave -they can't get their fingers out in time!
Bald Eagle 02-26-2005, 12:05 PM Personally, I have witnessed 3 Element drivers picking their nose while driving... if I can see them, they certainly can see my wave...
One hand to steer and one hand to pick doesn't leave any hands to wave. As a general rule, if you wave with more than one finger extended you get a better response.
popeye 02-27-2005, 12:30 AM i decided to only wave at orange e's...after all the other colors gave me startled/perplexed looks, if any...
and sop's usually wave back at me (probably the same guy over and over, there's really not that many around here in CT and NYC anyways)
Hondamade4dogs 03-01-2005, 07:38 PM Drive by me, I'll Wave !
carloso 06-24-2005, 06:24 AM I just quit too. I mean come on some 1 with not only the same kind of car but the same color too come on any 1 should wave back at that
The Rube 06-24-2005, 06:51 AM My wife gets upset with me cause I'm always on the lookout for brother "E"s. I try getting their attention many time to no avail. For some reason the ones I've run into here in NY don't seem very friendly. Once in a while I'll get a response - but - the truth is most of the time I don't. Still, it doesn't stop me!! I have come across a few who will pull over and chat for a while. It's unfortunate, but what can you do??? :)
eleventhletter 06-24-2005, 08:45 AM No one waves around here either. They just look at you like you have something wrong with you or look the other way. There is one older couple (and I only mean older then me, not old :) ) and they get all excited and wave when we see each other.
LEGO MY E 06-24-2005, 07:41 PM It is unfortunate (IMHO) that the Element appeals to so many people. I suspect that many of the "Lexus" crowd could care less about owning an Element, much less be excited enough to wave to another E owner. In contrast, my last vehicle was a Ford (!), and this is my first Honda (not to mention my first new vehicle!) so I am THRILLED whenever I get in my E!!
It's been 1 year and 1 day (damn, I forgot my "E"s anniversary yesterday!), and I never get tired with or complacent about my Element! And I'll ALWAYS wave to another E owner! :)
LEGO
WartHog 06-24-2005, 09:19 PM Let's face it: Unless you're an EOC member, then the E is (dare I say it?) just a car.
I'm afraid that for non-members, the E might as well be a Chevy Cavalier. Can you imagine what YOU would think if you were driving a Cavalier and another Cavalier driver waved at you? See what I mean?
But, I still wave anyway. Just on the off-chance that the other driver might be E-nigma (we live in the same town).
Injun Jim 06-25-2005, 08:47 AM around the dallas area, the last few i have waved at (used to be every time that i saw another E) they have just flipped me off.
maybe that needs to be our secret wave!
Bald Eagle 06-25-2005, 01:33 PM around the dallas area, the last few i have waved at (used to be every time that i saw another E) they have just flipped me off....
Must be your startling resemblence to John Kerry.
Hondamade4dogs 06-25-2005, 04:25 PM maybe you can start, Mooning everyone you see. that will get them to wave at you ! :-o   :-D
Justin 06-25-2005, 06:16 PM I wave at everybody who drives a E
