I know there is another poll for a count of people with windshield problems.. i wish to isolate the problem further, and wish to look to see if it might have been when your vehicle was made.. perhaps this was a time period fluke?

I adopted my E January 25th, 2003 and have not had any windshield (or any other problems).

ok so check off the birth of your Element.. (check on the drivers side, back door it will show the birth month & year there).

I realize the dates are kinda general, but the poll only allows for 10 answers & and I wished to verify 2003 & 2004, and the yes & nos.. to give a good idea of the problems.. and see if we would like to look further into a certain 1/2 year period..

Mine was made 3/04 the same month I purchased it. That is what I call effective inventory management. But no windsheild issues yet. 1.5 weeks, 460 miles.

I agree they did not sit on the lot did they.. mine was right off the truck.. and there was a guy who literally followed a truck with the first element that arrived in delaware, and bought it right off the truck.. they had not even unloaded it.. that was wild! The sales guy called me to tell me the truck arrived, and as we spoke he said oops sorry gone..

Mine was also born 3/04, and I purchased it on March 28. I've gone 600+ miles in the 10 days with no windshield problems.

Well ! Like most of us that have had no windshield problems ,I was wondering when my time would come ..Yesterday I was traveling north on interstate 75 just south of Tampa St.Pete. I was using cruise control & making 72 mph.When off to my right a dump trailer marked "Bulk Materials Inc " entered from the on ramp. Suddenly somthing fell from this truck ,a stone about 1-1.5 in. I think ,hit my windshield .It struck with such force it sounded like the crack of a high power rifle. Frankly it scared the hell out of me & my passenger. It hit the roadway first then came acroos from right to left on an upward angle stricking the windshield right in front of my face. When I recovered I realized that it didn't break the glass. When I arrived at my destination I cleaned the bugs from the windshield and gave a very close inspection .Much to my surprise there was not even a chip or mark of any kind. I have been driving for 53 years & have been hit by roadway objects many times ,none any harder than this time. I thought I was a dead man this time .I would have to say that this glass on my E is damn tough stuff. My E was mfg. December of 03.

NO windshield problem (E born Jan-June 2003)

A correction of my earlier post. After closer inspection under bright lights in my garage. The stone mentioned in my earlier post did in fact damage the winshield. There is a cluster of about 12 tiny dot/chips in the glass. They resemble a splattered bug so much that I was trying to remove it when I realized that it was actually tiny chips. Although I am dismayed over a damaged windshild on my new E ,I am still impressed with the glass strength .After all isn't what this poll is all about ? I guess I am about to get an education on glass repair .I hope it's a simple repair otherwise I think I'll live with it.
