: Has anybody tried tongue-washing already?
Ebvleb 04-10-2004, 09:03 AM Should I lick the plastic panels or just rub some of my saliva using my lips?. What is the best body fluid to clean the interior?
I'm making fun of your over-the-top way of cleaning you E just because I'm jealous. I don't have a driveway, my closest car-wash (below $15.00) is 30 minutes away. Before the E I had a 84 Bronco parked here in the upper east side of Manhattan. Nature was taking care of it. Rain was the carwash, snow was the waxing, sun was the dryer. With the E, though, I feel like I should clean it. It is going to be almost like a circus act washing the car in the middle of 3rd. Avenue,
I don't even have a bucket, there is no space in my apartment for it!
GYPSYTDA 04-10-2004, 09:12 AM wow your place is so small no space for a bucket.. humm is your element larger then your apt??
Well, you could keep a bucket in your vehicle, and perhaps park at a local park to wash it?? Dunno what you have avaiable to you up your way.. but well, just the comment on your apt size, i feel for ya!
Ebvleb 04-10-2004, 09:19 AM My local park is Central Park. 5 minutes after I start washing it I'll have all the National Guard surrounding me. The trick is that I could go everywhere to wash the car, but that means loosing my parking spot, which implies another 40 minutes of driving around to find one when I come back.
Remind me again why am I in this city? oh, yeah, Broadway, thanks.
GYPSYTDA 04-10-2004, 09:31 AM broadway is what keeps ya there.. umm, why?
Dasbear 04-10-2004, 10:05 AM  Say What! Did I really read that Tongue/Lip juice post?
I've never hear anything like that... OOOPS.
Oh, The coffee is kicking in. Now I remember those twins and who could ever forget Nicky.
Oh, sorry this is a family site. Sorry about that but some Groupies would do the darnest things by just asking. Ahhh.. those were the daze... Oh never mind.
 Slug

I have to assume you're male?
My wife commented, when I read her your post: "what do your floors look like?"
She raises a valid point, how can you clean your floors, without a bucket?
If you are parked close enough, you can pick up a fawcett adapter for your sink, attach a hose to it, and toss the hose out your window.

East Side Car Wash- 1st Ave/92nd Street (the Mobil Station). If you're parking on the street you must have gotten one of their discount coupon flyers stuck under your windshield wiper...or just snag one off an abandoned Dodge Omni.
Ebvleb 04-11-2004, 02:08 PM East side car wash is a nightmare, don't think I haven't been there. Last time, washing my previous car. Crew are either ex-taxi drivers or guys from the projects, they try to make sure you feel like **** with their customer service, is threatening. I've been there twice, the first time, I had a fight, the second, I wasted my time miserably.
That discount thing is BS, once you are there, around 15 guys jump into your car and then you got to tip each one, and believe me, you don't want not to tip any of these guys.
MikeQBF 04-11-2004, 02:16 PM My honest opinion? You're nuts to live on Manhattan and then continue to insist on owning a motor vehicle, or trying to keep it on the island. Everyone that I've known there has either done (very well) without or rented parking in Jersey or Long Island. It's a public transportation and taxi kind of town.
Trying to keep a car in the heart of NYC just ain't worth the angst and expense. :(
Ebvleb 04-11-2004, 02:17 PM To easy the concern of wives and other females, yes, I'm a male and the car is 1 month old, so the carpets (plastic ones, $4.89 from wal-mart) are still clean.
Hydrant is not an option, there are like 500,000 traffic officers in the city, 3 seconds parked in front of a hydrant sponsors a nice orangey $50.00 ticket.
I think I got the solution.
I'm going to park right in front of my building, get a very long electric extension and plug the vacuum cleaner to it. Then I'm going to get a trash bin and fill it with water from the basement's washers. I'll do it around 3 AM so the danger that some moron trips with the cable and then sues me, is low.
Ebvleb 04-11-2004, 02:22 PM You are right MikeQBF and as a matter of fact, I don't use the car in the city, I go around in subway or bus. The thing is that because our work, giving seminars and workshops in the city, I need to carry equipment. I know of parking places in Jersey or Long Island, the problem is, if I need the car right away, I need at least one hour to get it, and secondly, I need to pay bus/subway to go get the car and then toll to get back into the city. (@&#% 6.00 coming from NJ??? no way!)

If you don't use your E that frequently, check out the Motorgate Garage on Roosevelt Island. Rooftop parking is only $90/month. If it matters to you, an inexpensive car cover will protect your E...or you can park inside the garage for $180/month. Take the 4/5/6 train to 59th Street, walk two blocks to the Tram station at 59th/2nd Ave and transfer to the RI Tram (Metrocard is now good on the tram). Roosevelt Island red bus picks you up at the tram and drops you off at Motorgate for only twenty-five cents. From Roosevelt Island you can drive into Manhattan via Queens over the Queensborough Bridge...no toll!

What kind of New Yorker do you call yourself!? You gonna let some car wash jockey push you around? They aren't ex-taxi drivers, they're wannabe taxi drivers...still working their way UP the ladder. I used to go ESCW on a regular basis for car washes and never had a problem. They did an adequate job...you can't expect too much...and just stuff a buck in the tip box on your way out.
Eric B. 04-11-2004, 07:08 PM Move up north to Albany. Take up banjo playing. You can wash your car in your own driveway all night!
Ebvleb 04-11-2004, 08:43 PM What kind of New Yorker do you call yourself!? You going to let some car wash jockey push you around?
If this is part of being New Yorker, then I'm not one, why should I have to turn into a bad mother****er to get a lousy car wash?
Banjo playing, hum? with the moon roof out... How's life in Albany? never been there.

Not necessary...you can be a *****cat and STILL get a lousy car wash.
hownowcb 04-14-2004, 06:57 PM You don't really have to take heat from anybody here, unless you want to. I've had my Element 8 months and may have washed it 6 times. Big deal. I'd wash it even less, except that with the totally vertical sides, the melting snow never did a good job cleaning up the sides like it used to do on my previous "ordinary car". Same goes for the rain effect. I could not care less about how my roof looks, but I suppose you live in a more "vertical" neighborhood than I.
