Howdy Folks,

I like to drive with the widows down, so road noise doesn't really affect me. ;) However, would the E's doors benefit significantly from a "sealing off" Dynamat treatment? i.e. Covering any holes in the metal door frame to make the doors as airtight as possible to increase efficiency. The front doors sound pretty solid when I close them, unlike the rears. It's the fronts I'm mainly concerned about.

FYI, when researching the RAV4, I read on the now closed but still viewable http://rav4world.com/ about a cheap Dynamat equivalent. Sells for under $15 for a 32" x 54" roll. Go to http://www.mcmaster.com/ and search for "9709T19". It's called "Polymeric Mastic" and came highly recommended by eMass's counterpart on the forums there. Thanks, ChimChim! His site: http://www.chimchim.net/rav4/index.htm

That should do me for stereo questions for now...

Thanks!

Did they say it worked as well as Dynamat and Brown Bread?

Brown Bread and other products from B-Quiet seemed to be the favorites among the RAV4 owners for sound damping. What Mcmaster sells may be similar, but in a more generic industrial packaging.

Note there is sound damping material in selected spots in the Element. I suspect there are patches of it in the spare tire well.

I used the McMaster stuff on the inside of the trunk of my Sentra. I do not recommend it. It may work as good as the others, but it doesn't stick well at all. I know mine was on the underside of the trunk lid which may have added to the problem, but it was falling off within days. I think there are much better options out there for reasonable $$$. I agree with a lot of people concerning dynamat, great product, but you are paying for the name. The Brown Bread stuff is supposed to be great. I did my car and a friends car with Raamat. End's up costing a little more than $1/square foot. You can get it on ebay.

It's a little messy and difficult to cut since(you'll go through a lot of blades) but it sticks like mad and seems to work really well. I did the 2 complete trunks with the one roll and still had plenty left over.
