I was wondering if anyone knew where i can find the wire that carries the reverse signal for the reverse lights to light up when the E is shifted in reverse. I am installing an AVIC-80dvd (pioneer) and you need to tap the reverse wire and the vss. Does anyone know where I can find it (preferably in the front of the cabin, i know where the hitch harness is but dont know which wire to tap). Thanks.

Hey, I'm thinking of installing a Pioneer Avic90 (plays DVD's) in my E also. Where are you going to mount the unit? I was thinking of putting mine in the overhead compartment. It will fit but running the wiring is a bit much.

Its going to go under the drivers seat in the front half. My overhead has the center channel for my 5.1 set up in it. I have a pioneer p7500-dvd, so the brain for that as well as the xm module live under the passenger seat. My amp for my sub is under the back half of my drivers seat. Im running out of room because I need to keep my cargo area wide open because I am a DJ. I am very anxious to find that reverse wire too because my backup camera is on the av input right now but it would be nice to keep it on the reverse camera input and have it automatically come on when i shift in to reverse. Do we know anyone with a shop manual that could tell us where to find the reverse wire?

I installed my Pionner AVIC-80DVD the other day and other than cutting myself while pulling the panel under the dash off, it went pretty well. I never did find that reverse wire. I would like to find it because I have a back up camera that currently resides on the AV input of my Pioneer AVH-P7500DVD, and I would like to have a playstation on there instead. There is a separate backup camera input that activates when the reverse lamp is on but I still cant find the wire.

Anyway this brings most of my electronic mods to a close, or at least for now. I have the two units above, plus the XM module for the 7500, a backup camera, a JL 500/1 amp going in to a JL high output box (two 10w3v2s) and an ipod. I drive like 3 hrs a day so I feel that I can justify this. With all of this eqip I can watch DVDs, play mp3 discs as well as the ipod, XM Radio, dolby digital surround, see behind when i am loaded up (quite often), voice recognition/navigation and I can bounce a quarter on the roof with the sub. I dont know what else to do now. I hooked up the dvd on a toggle switch to make it legal/illegal. I only did this so people could watch while i drive. IF YOU ARE DRIVING AND WATCHING YOU ARE CRAZY!! anyway i will post pics some day. I tried once but it didnt work. anyway if anyone could tell me where to find that reverse wire it would be much appreciated.

I ran a wire back to the reverse light on the right side of the Element and just tapped into it there.
