Plastic panel sand blasting

My Element's plastic panels, just forward of the rear wheels, are being sand blasted by debris thrown up by the front wheels. I've had mud flaps in place since day one.
This problem is a big concern for me as I am leasing this vehicle. Will I be held responsible for all the scratches and damage done to these panels? I can only imagine the costs of replacing all the exterior plastic on this car.
If this is indeed a problem for other Element owners besides me, I'd like to explore this further with American Honda and would appreciate input from any of you. Thanks!

I have 2,800 miles on my Ex Sop> I have the same Sandblasting problem right in front of the rear tires. I also, Have the factory mudflaps that came installed when I bought mine off the showroom floor. I would be interested to know if anyone else is having such problems with the Plastic body panels and what to do.?

My "E" has about 2,500 miles and I have the same marring on the rear passenger side by the rear wheel only. I don't remember driving through any gravel but the scratches are there. I don;t have the mudflaps. Apparently they won't prevent this issue anyway. So far no information from the dealer on how to treat the plastic fenders. It would be great if you could just sand them clean! LOL.

I had some slight white blushing in the middle of panel for no reason. I put some Mothers Back to Black and its gone. I have not decided if I want to put a silicone like Lexol Vinylex or a non-silicone like Back to Black on all the plastic. Or maybe both? Once you start you may have to do it forever.
