HEY, they never mentioned the side effect that I would morph into the darn thing....or maybe its morphing into me? Am I in trouble? Where will it end?

This is a side effect of owning an Element that no oen warned me about....
And whats all this brouhaha about "all that plastic cladding on the Element"? Its looks about normal to me.... 8)
(thats my mtn biking outfit for those that are REALLY mystified. I should have put on my dark blue jersey for the photo for the finishing touch......)

8) I got it! You were once one of those Ninja Turtle dudes or was it the guy who was always after them?

What kind of pads are those?
I'm looking for good MTB protective gear so I can ride more aggressive without fear of broken bones.
Having pain aversion as I get older.

that is soo funny, what a great picture.. thank you for sharing!!
Well the ninja turtle thing isn't too far off since I do study martial arts and my "handle" here, Honu, does mean turtle in Hawaiin. See it does ALL tie together.
i hate to go off topic, too far, but per request up above. My honu shell for this 51 year old body that can't take a lot more beating after 20 years of mtn biking is the Roach brand, and this is their lighter duty version. Available at many of the usual mail order sites. Nice of them to color coordinate and style match the Element. 8) And you might note the Element like gouge in the plastic on one kneecap, which would have finished off my kneecaps without the pads. The pads are how I compensate for riding with the demographic that the Element is actually marketed for....

Sweet pic Honu...
gotta ask you a quick one:
Do you ever do any nice, mellow trail rides? I'm getting back into mtn biking after nursing a bad back for several years and need some folks willing to take it easy and help a guy get going again..........

honu, maui no ka oi!
next time wear a blue t-shirt, mon!
Ah, someone picked up the Honu name source (Turtle in Hawaii)
Actually I do have a blue jersey that predates the Element but comes close to matching it. I didn't think of that until I posted the pic.
I AM the "wimpy" rider in the mtn biking group I hang with! I stay on the ground and take the pics. :) I do tight slow technical single track and highly recommend a full suspension bike if you have back injuries. My normal mtn bike injuries are just low speed bailouts and topple overs, which the pads keep as minor, even when bashing rocks and elbowing trees. If it can be rolled over, I WILL generally ride it.
I am up for a convergence of mtn biking Elements if you are willing to push the envelope a little bit.(I am 51 years old....how bad arse can I be  ) That would look darn cool to see a bunch of Elements lined up at a mtn biking spot and unloading bikes.....without having to dissasemble and assemble them. 8)

Hey, that's a good idea for MTB/E owners meetings!
East Coast meet at Snow Shoe, West Virginia and West Coast at Moab, Utah.
I'd attend that meeting!
BTW Honu, Roach pads cost a bit much so ended up buying Troy Lee pads and definitely saved me some bruises riding expert trail yesterday.
