Just curious if there are any "family" members out there, especially in the Southern CA area, who are new Element owners? Would like to hear from you... perhaps get a "club" up and running. Interested?

Of course we are everywhere. I live out in Ptown on Cape Cod and have only seen two on the road out here. I'm still waiting for my SOP to come in. Going on 3 months now. Hope we are united before it gets so busy out here that I can't enjoy some good driving and quiet shopping time.

Sorry to spoil the fun but...

Hawaiian E & isketerol & anyone else wondering - "family" in this context means gay/lesbian.

BTW, I think the folks participating in this thread should formalize this as a national Element club in the new e-clubs section.

 Damn, there goes our secret handshake... :)

Yeah, a national club sounds like a good idea. Now, just have to think of the right catchy acronym (like g/l diversity initiatives at work - mine is LeGEND for Lesbian Gay Employee Network Dallas)...

Maybe MEOW (Marvelous Element Owners World)... LOL (prolly not!)

Family here in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area of NC! We just got our E. Enjoying it so far. Plan to put larger tires on it on Monday.

Anyone going to the big bash in Pensacola, FL for Memorial Day Weekend? We'll be there with the E. Guess I'll see how many other family members have gotten one. Should be a crowd of at least 50,000-60,000.

When I was buying my "E", one of the salesmen at work asking me if the "E" was a "gay car". I howled because one of the other salesmen drives a VW Jetta which was rated the #1 gay car. T'was the Subatru Forester for lesbians. Who knows what the next survey might reveal.

I know I'm stereotyping a little and may get roasted for this, but it seems like Jeep is the unofficial gay brand. Seems like lots of gay guys drive Grand Cherokees and Wranglers. And the predominant color seems to be black.

Obviously, I know how to use the search function, was just wondering what this board's attitude was toward the lgbt community and was nicely surprised. Although was surprised not see any off-topic discussions on gay marriage.

Just picked up my Element this past Saturday. The dealer asked why I was purchasing an Element and told him honestly that finances were going to be changing in the future with my boyfriend going to law school and I needed a cheaper daily driver. He even asked when I picked up the car why my boyfriend didn't come down with me.

I'm pretty active on a lot of car forums seeing how I've bought 5 new cars in the last 3 years and it's quite a surprise to see how different car forums react to out gay members. Focaljet.com (ford focus) and NASIOC (subaru impreza) are awesome. rangerpowersports (ford ranger) was o.k. and evolutionm.net (mitsubishi evolution) is awfull. Nice to see Element owners are cool with it and that I won't be the only out person on this board.

jesse : Isn't that the truth! In spite of the sometimes semi-rigid opinions some of us have concerning the really important things in life like: (not an inclusive listing, just some examples ... :) )
- which wax is best for our Element
- whether to name our Element or not
- what gender our Element might be
- which roof rack is best
- which tires to replace the OEM ones with
- and, which color is best...

For me, people who appreciate the Element, are exactly the kind of people I find most interesting - diverse, eclectic, and in some instances perhaps a bit eccentric, but always a delight. Life's brief, enjoy it and the Element!!

Okay, at the risk of getting flamed horrendously, I hafta ask a somewhat stereotyping question...

Is it just me or is there a disproportionally large segment of the "family" community who own Jeep vehicles? Almost seems like Jeeps are the official ride for gay folks. And Jeeps owned by "family" members seem to be predominantly black in color.

I missed this thread before. Family here! And if the owner of the green E in this photo is out there, drop me a line! I know you are family too-- since our parents live next to each other... :) This photo was taken xmas day 2004...

Me and my partner just drove to Chattanooga to visit two sets of gay coupled friends. First couple(guys) both drive CR-Vs. Later that night we drove over to couple number 2(gals) and they have a new Element. When we went out to dinner I stated, you will have to drive because we don't keep the back seats in because we use the Element to haul DJ equipment. They replied, we don't keep our back seats in either because we use the Element to haul the furniture we design.

So, we drove all over Chattanooga like a gay Element parade.

Been a member of this EOC a long time, they are my family too even though I haven't posted in a while. Great bunch of people here that have been very kind & helpful. Had a great time at an Element meetup. I've had my Element since 2003. Now ol' Elly is having some small problems in her aging self. Had some questions.
Nice to have "family" on board. Good to see such diversity & acceptance.

I cant caught your humor yet.. .what does "IRV" means?
and what must I fill?

Twilightzero
04-19-2007, 09:35 AM
IRV is the name of another member on here who tends to "remind" people who haven't filled in their profile and tends to show up everywhere. To do so, click on the User CP (http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/usercp.php) link on the top left of the page, then click the Edit Profile link on the left sidebar. That'll get you to the page where you fill in your info. :)

I see... We russian have other mentality while you decide what new chip to do in yuor machine, we think how to buy more cheap and not from lithuania:D

Twilightzero
04-19-2007, 03:27 PM
That's a distinction that's made here also - there's cheap (inexpensive price) and then there's cheap (bad quality - Lithuania) ;-)

Aside from that, the profile information is useful if you're asking maintenance or repair questions, that tells us what you may be dealing with, if there are any known problems with that model year, etc.

For most of the general public yes, they just take their car to the dealer or a service shop. But Element owners tend to be very do-it-yourself and a lot of us do our own service outside of major body or engine repairs :D
