I need some info from somebody with an Electric trailer brake controller. I may buy the Prodogy controller and need advice.
Thanks,
Steve

I am buying a Scamp 13' trailer with electric brakes in about a month. I knew nothing about trailer brakes (and still very little) when I started this process. My research at several trailer forums led me to the Prodigy which all say is the best trailer controller out there, albeit more expensive.

I bought my Prodigy from PPL Motorhomes and got very excellent service. I ordered it via the web on a Sunday night, they shipped it Monday and I got it Thursday. About the best price I saw too, about $110. http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-hitches/prodigy-brake-controllers.htm

Over the next two weeks I'll be installing it along with the hitch harness and charge line for my Scamp. So lots of fun coming up. I'll post a full report with pictures when I'm done.

BigFoot,
Thanks. I also ordered a Prodigy off the Internet yesterday. I also picked up a neat adapter from Northern Tools that accepts a 7 spade from the trailer and will also allow you to plug in a standard 4 pin! On the back it has a 4 pin to plug the car into and extra wires to attach controller wire(s) too. It came with a mounting bracket that I will need to figure out where to mount. I don't know if you can mount anything to the bottom of the bumper. By the way, I'll be pulling a Coachman sport popup camper. I'll also post some pictures later.

LET US know how you make out with the Scamp. I thought the Scamp was way too heavy for the E!. But let us know how the E! performs! Thanks!

Gee Gina, looks like I'm going to miss the June rally and that opportunity!

I have finished wiring the Prodigy controller and now pondering the optimum mounting spot for the control box, but hope to resolve that today. I have been taking pictures so will post them within a few days.

Also have run the charge wire to the engine compartment from the hitch and when done will post that job's details. Neither have been overwhelming, but my experience should make it easier for those who follow, as there sure was a lot of pondering in the 100 degree heat by this old geezer on how to do it the best and neatest way!

Will have the Scamp by the end of the month and will post before/after MPG and the Scamp 13' towing experience ASAP, probably around July 1 from Salt Lake City on the route home.

Gypsy! Getting to see Deadwood on the way back from the Scamp factory and will compare it with the HBO version!

Art, that plug is nice! I saw a similar one at Wally World and thought the dual feature was very nice. I have the ugly polished metal one from UHaul but some flat black paint mostly fixed that, and it looks okay. I decided to drill two holes through the bottom of the plastic bumper cover (two layers?) to attach the plug bracket. Also have a bracket from UHaul that attaches to the hitch arm, should the bumper method end up being too much of a strain.
