: Could be a very stupid question about stock EX system...

I searched and scrolled through 5 pages of the discussion but didn't see this question anywhere except in reference to 5 speakers. Sorry if it is dumb.

- The EX lists a 7 speaker, 270 watt system
- All the threads seem to reference only 5 speakers.
1 sub (70 w)
2 front (50 w each)
2 rear (50 w each)

Are there 2 other speakers and if so, what is the wattage and where are they located?
I read that the sub is a dual coil voice over (?correct term?)? Are there 2 additional speakers in the sub or something and that is why no one mentions them?

Thanks for anyone who can clarify this for me. Thanks.

are you referring to the 2 front tweeters or are you counting them as part of your front speakers?

Ya, just found a thread on that on hondaelement.org

So expand on that. Do these not use any power? Does part of the 50wx2 for the front speaker power the tweeters?

Sorry, these are probably pretty dumb questions.

Speakers in each door. (4) 1 to each side of the Windshield (2) and Subwoofer (1) 4 + 2 + 1= 7

Yes, they use power, but only corresponding to the frequencies above X, which is then "taken away" from the door speakers. This is the function of a "crossover network".

Yes, as above.

And don't be fooled by those numbers. They are maximum wattage.

Check FAQ #14 for the real RMS numbers:

Still the best stock system I've heard, but...
