I came across this PDF link in one of the forums. It should prove helpful.

This might be worth a sticky.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention but it's not very accurate - for instance, the E does not have a 8" sub it's 6.5 ", I also disagree with the advice of installing amps and changers under the rear seats, the front seats are much better since it doesn't destroy the functionallity of the vehicle. All of the other info has been already covered in our FAQ.

The firewall pass-thru along the driver's fender is new to me. Is there a plug on the firewall that will permit accessory wiring to enter the interior from the pass-thru?

Yes, there's a plug left of and above the clutch area. Wasn't easy fishing wire through but it's there.

How does it destroy the functionality? I have my amp installed on the bottom of my passenger side rear seat and it still works fine.

I think he is saying it hurts functionality in that you couldn't remove the seat without removing the wires from the amp. Also what about putting the seats up? Does the amp get in the way in that instance?

I agree, it might be a better idea to put your amp in the front seat area. This will enable you to keep the function of taking your rear seats out or pulling them up to make space for cargo.

My amp is attached to my speaker box in the tray area. I can still pull up or take out my seats....the only draw back is if I had to put a large object in the back, I'd have to take all the amp wires out! :(

I'm currently looking for a better place to put these.

I have a fairly large Pioneer amp attached to the bottom of my rear passenger seat and it does not present any problems. I can still put the seat up. I can't take the seat out, but I've never needed to so that is ok with me.
