Hey people I am a newbie to this and was just wondering would it be good to apply a couple coats of rubber a plastic protectant on the plastic mouldings? Its seems like a gret idea! Let me know what you think! :D

A definite Yes vote from me.

I just posted last night about the Zaino product that I've used successfully for the past year (http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9545&highlight=).

There are a lot of other products available as well (MeGuires, Stoner, Lexol, etc). Go for one with a high UV rating. Zaino is rated UV 40.

Some members reported streaking after they had applied what they used. That might have been Lexol. But I think the streaking might have been caused by not doing a thorough initial treatment. Whatever you use, initially you will need to do 3 or more applications to get good even coverage. The panels seem to soak it up just like wood furniture soaks up lemon oil.

Congrats on your new purchase! What color did you get?

There are a number of good products. I've used 303 protectant that I bought at Zeller's and Mother's Back to Black that I bought at Cdn Tire. They both seem to work well although you have to be more careful with 303 to apply it evenly and wipe off the excess.

I'm a fan of Zaino but I have not tried their plastic / rubber products yet.
I did use Mothers Back to Black once, but I was not overly impressed.

Congrats on the new E, you'll love the colour.

From a recommendation here in this forum, I had tried the Stoner brand spray window cleaner. It did an excellent job. Similar to Rain-X, I hardly had to use my wipers in the rain. I just noticed in a web search that Stoner also makes a rubber/vinyl protectant. I might give that a try sometime. Pep Boys carries the Stoner window cleaner, so hopefully they carry the rubber/vinyl protecant too.
