Just a quick post to say thanks for all of the great information I've found on this board - information which helped me decide on purchasing a new Element for my 41st Birthday (today, July 12th).

I picked it up this past Friday, and have been putting it to the test since - including some spirited off-roading in the mountains of Northern California (where I spend a good deal of time prospecting for gold).

I have to say that I was concerned about the Element's capabilities after seeing some of the "off roading" pics posted here and at other forums, but can attest to the vehicle's ability where the pavement ends.

I'll post some pics soon showing some of the areas I've gotten into, and hope to get a few more inches of ground clearance plus some more capable all terrain tires for enhanced off road travel through our local fire / lumber / mining roads and beyond...

EX, auto AWD w/ side airbags, Galapagos Green - sidesteps (which I'll eventually powder coat), foglights, driver's arm rest, etc. on order (I bought at time of vehicle purchase so that they'd be covered under warranty with dealer install) plus cabana and poles - more to come!
