Has anybody had problems putting 75s on their E? I'd like to try 225/75R/16s but perhaps that's too big.

I have lousy Avon Ranger TSEs in 225/70/16s and looking to replace with some Kumho KR 21s.

i suspect it might work...i have 235/60/18 on my E at stock height. the overall diameter of those are 29.1 inches. the overall diameter of what you are proposing is 29.3 inches. you can compare sizes here - http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

my tires don't rub at all. but when looking in the wheel well i feel its a bit tight in some places...that being said my tires are also 10mm wider than 225's...

Well, I have 81k miles on my LTX's in stock size. I still have 6/32 TREAD LEFT in the center of the tires. I have 138k total miles. This is the 4th set of tires (OE for approx 10k miles, other G'yrs for 2k miles, Still other G'yrs for about 45k miles)

I have been chasing inside edge wear on all tires. I've had 3 alignments, 2 by the dealer. The last alignment was about 12k miles ago and now it looks like the front tires have more OUTSIDE tire wear. It looks like they over corrected that time on the front toe.

Oh WEll, it looks like I'll get at least 100k miles out of these noisy tires. they still handle great and have great traction wet/dry. The tires have always followed road irregularities, but had somewhat deminished with wear.

The next set of tires will be at over 150k miles. New shocks/struts will be needed by then along with anouther ALIGNMENT.

Does anyone have or know if this Honda Pilot Rims fit the 2007-2009 EX AWD Element? And can you swap the TPMS to it?

If these are off a 2009+ Pilot they will not fit. The Pilot uses a larger bolt circle. 120x5 vs the 114.3x5 the E uses.

Rims:

Stock '03 EX 16" rims

Tires:

Michelin LTX M/S 225/70 R16

93,XXX miles and still going. Will probably need replacing before this winter. Unbelieveable, but I went back and look at the invoice for the mileage on car when replaced. So this is all true. The factory Goodyear Wranglers are OK, but nothing compared to these tires in terms of durability and overall handling in all conditions. These tires are excellent in dry, rain and snow, we live in Michigan, drive with complete confidence. As they wear, they retain performance. No rubbing and minimal tire noise. Only noise is on worn out paved roads or if there is any grooves in road. Will be getting another set.

Michelin LTX M/S 225/70 R16 have 105,XXX miles and still going. Will be replacing before this winter with same tire. Unbelievably happy with these tires.

How wide are those? If you can tell me, I can be more precise.
I can guess and say they will stick out at least 1/2 inch more
than your stock tires do now. That is not too low of an offset
for the E. If you dont lower it, you will be just fine.

I don't know... but it's the same as this site (http://www.icbmotorsport.com/jdmep3tyr17g.html)... does that tell you the inches?

That website says they are 17 X 7 and have a +45 offset.
That is perfect for the E. You will have NO problems at all.
The SC rims are 18 X 7 +45 for comparison.

For tire sizes, you could go with the following:

225/60 R17
235/55 R17 (speedo will be a little slow)
245/55 R17

I wouldn't go any wider with a 7 inch wide rim. Those tire sizes will keep
you speedo as accurate as it is with your stock set up. The 235 says it
will be 2.2% slower. If your speedo says 60mph, you will actually be going
59.7mph. I dont see that as a problem.

Keep us posted on what you decide. I think those would look GREAT on an E!

The info I get on these rims is they are a 17 X 7 rim with a +55 offset.
The offset is a little high, so the rims and tires will be at least 1/2 inch
closer to your suspension. Depending on what size tires you go with,
that may get even closer. You may have to run a spacer to make these
work.

Tires: Michelin LTX M/S2
Size: 225/70-16
Store: Tire Discounters - $177/ea including all fees. Also $100 rebate.

My stock Wrangler HP's had worn out on my 08 E, so I started researching replacement tires on this thread. I had put 65k mi on the original tires and they hadn't quite reached the wear bars so I was very happy with the tread wear and I also wasn't sure that I wanted to mess up the "factory tuned" tire choice.

Overall I was never very pleased with the bucking bronco feel that the E had on low speeds, but I had assumed this was mostly a characteristic of a short wheel-base vehicle. While reading reviews from several of you on this thread, I saw that people were seeing positive improvements in the ride quality and handling over bumps after switching tires. I assume that most of this has to do with stiffer side walls, but I never imagined that it would be a very noticeable difference. I had decided that I would need a completely new suspension if I wanted to do something about the forward-to-back rocking that I hated so much.

After reviewing all of the options, I decided that I wanted to go with the Michelin LTX M/S in the stock size. Unfortunately, it seems this size was out of stock everywhere and Michelin seems to have ceased production of this size in the M/S. Instead I started to look at the MTX M/S 2 which is a very similar tire, but has some embedded silica to improve the wet traction. Unfortunately, these do not come in the stock size at all, but they do come in the next size up (225/70-16). Many people on this thread said that this size (and this exact tire) would work just fine, so I decided to bite the bullet.

After signing over some significant cash, I am now the very proud owner of some very fine tires. I am truly amazed at what these tires have done to the ride quality. Sure, it's still a short wheel base vehicle, but the suspension is no longer having to do double-duty trying to dampen out the bouncy-ness of the tires. Now the E handles like you expect a small SUV to handle. I took the new tires for a ride around town and hit all of the mid-turn bumps that would normally make me rock violently side-to-side...instead the E now absorbs the bumps like it should.

I have only put about 300 miles on these tires, so I can't say much about the traction capabilities or tread wear. The road noise is slightly less than it was with the stock Wranglers, but I'm not sure I'd say it's a huge improvement. Again, with stiffer side walls, some noise has to be tolerated. So overall, I can give these tires a huge A+ for ride quality and an A- for road noise. They also look a bit nicer than the stock tires. For those of you that are interested in their appearance, here are a couple pictures (after a fresh coating of tire shine).

Thanks to the EoC for providing a lot of valuable research information in one place!

I am considering Nokian enTyre in original 215/70/16 size for my 2003 EX. Ultra low rolling resistance, yet according to the (sparse) reviews I have read this does not seem to compromise the performance characteristics. I have heard very good things about Nokians from the Prius crowd.

Does anyone out there have Nokians installed? Which ones? Opinions?

Hi guys. I'm sure these questions have been asked to death but I can't go through 53 pages to get my answer. Quick one, I have a 2004 Element with the stock alloy rims. I have 215-70-R16s on there now. A buddy of mine with a 2005 said that he checked various resources, including here, and went with 235-70-R16s as they're the biggest that can go on an Elee without any issues. So first, I'd like to ask if that's correct or if you see any downside. Using the tire selectors on the tire company sites generally say not only to stick with the OEM size but there are several downsides from deviating from that. So, if I could go up from OEM a bit without an issue that would be cool but if there are issues, it's probably not worth it to me. I'm sorry if this is easy stuff. Thanks in advance. :)

Both 225/70R16 and 235/70R16 are popular choices to go on stock wheels. I do recall in the past there may have been a clearance issue on a couple different 235's that had an agressive tread.

I am currently running 235/70 Michelin Crossterrains with no clearance issues and no noticable change in fuel consumption. I will be switching to 235-65-16's come spring time.

Thanks. I'm seriously considering ContiCrossContact LXs. I definitely want an American made tire. I'm a little concerned about treadwear. I had a different style of Contis on a different car and they did wear fast but apparently they were known for that. I just saw a similar criticism of these Contis along with a bunch of praise. Didn't know if anyone here had any experience with them.

I am in the market for tires and wheels. I have sourced what I think will be a good step up for daily driving and minor trail riding on the weekends to get to the river. I wanted a modded look, but something a little more off road rather than wheels that should be on a 1200 HP Supra.

Yokohama Golander AT 225 60 17 on Motegi MR281 17x7.5 with 45 offset. TireRack suggest that size tire with the wheel and said they would pay for any shipping and handling if there are any problems since that is their recommended tire size for that wheel. What do yall think?
$1296 for all four wheels and tires shipped already mounted and balanced with new TPMS sensors installed.

Good looking wheels!!!

Here are the stats on that set up compared to the OEM setup. I think they
are a safe setup. I think you can go either wider or taller.

When speedometer reads 60mph (96.6km/h) actual speed will be 59.5mph (95.8km/h): 0.8% slower.

Package is 5 mm (0.2'') closer to suspension/brakes components. Acceptable for most cars.

Package will stick out 5 mm (0.2'') farther. Acceptable for most cars.

100% clear (leaves even more room than OEM).

Here is what you get if you go wider to a 235/60 R17:

When speedometer reads 60mph (96.6km/h) actual speed will be 60.5mph (97.4km/h): 0.8% faster.

Package is 10 mm (0.4'') closer to suspension/brakes components. Acceptable for most cars.

Package will stick out 10 mm (0.4'') farther. Acceptable for most cars.

Will fill out the wheelwell by extra 3 mm. Almost no difference.

Here is what you get when using a taller 225/65 R17:

When speedometer reads 60mph (96.6km/h) actual speed will be 61.4mph (98.9km/h): 2.3% faster.

Package is 5 mm (0.2'') closer to suspension/brakes components. Acceptable for most cars.

Package will stick out 5 mm (0.2'') farther. Acceptable for most cars.

Will fill out the wheelwell by extra 8 mm. Acceptable for most cars.

If you are daring, you might get away with 235/65 R17, its taller and wider
and I know that someone is running 235/70 R16 tires and they dont rub. This
is the same size tire in a 17.

Here is what you get when you compare 235/65 R17 to OEM:

When speedometer reads 60mph (96.6km/h) actual speed will be 62.5mph (100.6km/h): 4.2% faster.

Package is 10 mm (0.4'') closer to suspension/brakes components. Acceptable for most cars.

Package will stick out 10 mm (0.4'') farther. Acceptable for most cars.

Will fill out the wheelwell by extra 15 mm. Make sure that you have enough room under the fender. If not, consider lower profiles or smaller rims.

I wanted to give you my 2 cents, but I think I gave you at least a quarters
worth!!!

LTX M/S 2 225/70r16 Just bought them today from Discount Tire!!

I made an appointment and was in and out of the store in 30 minutes!! Definately beating the promise of 45 minutes. Great Service, best tire store I have ever dealt with on all levels.

Anyway put them on the stock rims....QUIET, QUIET, QUIET when compared to the Goodyear wrangler.

I was concerned since I have never gone other than OEM size on any other vehicle that it would change the handling or quickness of the element. I only notice improvements on the handling and have not noticed any reduction in power, or any difficulty turning the steering wheel at all.

Thanks to all the great reviews and feedback in this forum. It made deciding to go to the Plus Zero size to get the M/S 2 and not stick with the OEM size to get the original M/S an easy decision without much anxiety.

LOVE THESE TIRES!!! More feedback when I get to 80,000 miles on these.

I had the Kumho KR21s put on my truck last week. Stock size. Given that gas prices are on the march up once again, I went with the 215/70/16 in standard touring tread.

Got 60,000 miles out of a pair of very noisy Avon tires.

Tire fits, and it should. Very quiet tire. I'm very pleased with the performance so far.

THANK YOU!!! I needed to replace my mismatched old 215 tires that came with my used 06 EX 4wd. Reading this thread gave me confidence to get 225's - Michelin LT m/s2 from TireRack.

My last car was an Outback and I was dismayed at the tenuous tracking I was feeling with my Element's old tires. I didn't want to believe I had to settle for lousy handling with this higher profile vehicle, as some friends had suggested.

Someone on this thread suggested that my EX would carve the turns and handle like a sports car with the wider size and great quality new shoes. Well, ... I don't know about that ... but I'm having fun driving again, accelerating through turns, as well as an automatic can, and feeling confident again about feeling the road.

So thanks. Tire Rack was easy, and double checked with me that I had meant to order 225's as they weren't the factory size. Their recommended installer was great too.

I'm a happy camper (and BTW) hope to hit the road and do some camping soon.

I ended up goin with 205 60 17s Yokohama egolander ats on the Motegi 17x7.5 wheels. Tire rack would not garuntee a 235 65 17 and if they rubbed I would have to return them at my expense. My setup basically didn't change a thing because I have larger wheels but slightly less side wall.

someone gave me a set of rims and tires off a 2005 Honda Pilot

Rim - 16 x 6.5 offset +45mm
Tire- Goodyear Integrity 235/70/R16

I swaped the center caps, the Pilot rims had a black "H" and I tought the Element's silver one looked better

No rubbing or touching issues.

But the ride is very bouncy... maybe I have the wrong amount of air? I'm running 35psi now

Sharkcage, could you update me on the M/S 2's? What was the out-the -door on these, and did they give you any hassle about the non-standard size?
Finally, any downsides...rub, , etc.?

Getting 4 Cooper Discoverer H/T's put on today. We had Uniroyal Tiger Paws on previously and I was NOT impressed. The original Wrangler's lasted us for over 20K miles which was not great, but it was definitely more than a lot of other EOCer's have reported on the stock tires.

We got the Tiger Paws put on about 2 years ago and I am not impressed with their mileage. Two years may sound like a lot of time for a set of tires, but we only put on about 17K miles during the time period (and that might be generous). I am hoping we get more life out of the Discoverer H/T's since they are SUV tires and the Tiger Paws are apparently more of a car tire. We'll have to wait and see.

I got 4 Discoverer H/T's w/ mounting, balancing and new stems for $123 each and there is also a $50 mail in rebate to Cooper. The out the door price is going to be less than $500, but I need to add a $60 alignment to that price so we will still be under $500, but not by much. This was a much better deal than the Tiger Paws which were over $500 and didn't include new stems or an alignment (and they sucked).

That's because the Tiger Paws are Uniroyal's version of the OEM Wranglers that everyone raves on and on about here - except that they might even be less well made than the GoodYears.

I haven't checked lately to make sure they still have it online, but if you're looking at a particular type of tire and you want to get an eye full about them, check out the stats listed on the Tire Rack website - not the reviews mind you, but the stats on the tire itself. Any tire that weighs 5 lbs less than other tires in the same size simply has to be missing material somewhere.

EDIT - So I checked their site and obviously, some numbers have changed since I last looked at the Tiger Paws, but the "would buy/wouldn't buy again" ratings still tell the same tale.

I think you are right, those old Tiger Paws look nothing like the Discoverer HT's. The new tires are much beefier looking and my wife said she could feel a big difference in the way the car drove. I won't be going for the bargain tires again after only getting about 15K miles out of that last set.

I couldn't tell from your post if your Tigerpaws ran out of tread or if they simply failed. The last set I had came oem on a pickup truck and they lasted about what you described before the tire's inner surface disintegrated and then then all four carcasses had multiple blowouts.

No blowouts in our case, but there was absolutely no tread left when we had them replaced.

Hi there,

I have been reading these forums since February since I bought my Element, I got a Black 2011 EX-AWD. After reading millions of posts and reviews about the Michelin LTX M/S tires and a few more posts regarding the best size for the Element and went ahead and got the 225/75/16 since ground clearance is a big issue for me living in the East Cost (and NYC winters) and doing some light off-road driving upstate on the weekends when I ride my MTB.

Here is a list of the few things I've noticed so far, good and bad, please note that I've only had the Michelins for about 3 days...anyways here it goes:

Pros (Noticeable improvements):
-Softer ride (it is very noticeable). It seems like the E now doesn't absorb every little bump and pot hole on the road (again...it's NYC...streets are terrible).
-Increased ground clearance. The E sits definitely higher and I measured the before and after ground clearance (not a true ground clearance measurement but I just took a base measurement at the same spot before and after - see pictures below)
Measurement before: 8" (before picture is missing because my camera got stolen from my glove compartment at the shop while getting the tires installed...I know...it sucks...they're checking the surveillance cameras today)
Measurement after: 8 3/4" or 8.9"
Increase: 0.9"
-Better looks. It seems to me that this size tire makes the E feel a little bit more off road or more like the size that the E should have come with in the first place.
-Better handling. I tried to take the same turn off the highway at about 35 mph (not the smartest thing to do) before and after and it's like night and day compare to the Wranglers HP.
-I have no noticed any negative changes on the way the E handles because it sits slightly higher now.

Cons:
-Price
-Price
-Price (but it's worth it)
-Slight change in acceleration, I won't be winning any drag races but the change in acceleration is very minimal. These tires are definitely heavier than the OEMs but like I said...you probably won't even notice this.

Sorry for the long post, I guess I am just trying to write answers to all the questions I had before I decided to do this. I hope it helps and if anybody has a question please let me know.

I forgot, I'm running the tires at 32 psi/35 psi front/rear, they messed up the alignment the first time around (the steering was pulling left when I accelerated from a full stop) and had the tires running at 45 psi... so make sure you are there when they do the alignment and put the right tire pressure on them, at first when I left the shop I thought I had make the biggest mistake of my life but once the alignment was done correctly (I even got a printout) and the tire pressure lowered the E drove great!

I now have about 5K miles on Michelin LTX M/S2 @ 235 70 16

-One step wider than OEM (Zero issues - in fact I believe this sixe is better than spec'd size)

Beautiful ride... Perfect tire. Very good on snow (Lots of snow in Tahoe this past winter!) & super QUIET on the highway!

You really need not consider anything else!

That's interesting....hopefully they're just getting worn in or something.

I just put on some of the brand new Yokohama yk580's 235/55/18 ,and so far they are awesome. I've been getting about 20 miles more per tank and the ride is great.

All in all they were $801 - $100 visa with lifetime balance, rotation and replacement from America's tire, and they've got a 60k miles warranty. Hopefully they last that long!

For a 235 tire, you can run a rim that is between 6 and 9 inches wide.
An 8 inch rim would be right on the money.

Good looking rims!! I think they will look great on your E.

As for the tires, I think Xvoltm2 is right, those are pretty tall. Here is
what I get when I compare them to the OEM SC tire size (225/55 R18):

Suspension clearance: Package 2 is 2 mm (0.1'') closer to suspension/brakes components. Acceptable for most cars.

Fenders clearance: Package 2 will stick out 8 mm (0.3'') farther. Acceptable for most cars.

Wheel wells clearance: Will fill out the wheel well by extra 17 mm. Make sure that you have enough room under the fender. If not, consider lower profiles or smaller rims.

Speedometer: When speedometer reads 60mph (96.6km/h) actual speed will be 62.9mph (101.3km/h): 4.8% faster.

You should have gotten 235/55 R18 tires. Here is what they look like compared
to the OEM SC tires size:

Suspension clearance: Package 2 is 2 mm (0.1'') closer to suspension/brakes components. Acceptable for most cars.

Fenders clearance: Package 2 will stick out 8 mm (0.3'') farther. Acceptable for most cars.

Wheel wells clearance: Will fill out the wheel well by extra 5 mm. Acceptable for most cars.

Speedometer: When speedometer reads 60mph (96.6km/h) actual speed will be 60.9mph (98km/h): 1.5% faster.

You will hopefully be OK. As long as you are not lowered, you might get lucky.
I know there are some guys on here that run some really tall tires on their 16s.

Keep us posted on how they fit, preferably with lots of pics.

Just got a set of Bridgestone Ecopia's installed at Costco. First impression, badass. They are super quiet, which in the Element is great.

In theory they get 1 to 2% better mileage than standard tires. They are the 'low rolling resistance' type. I now get around 21mpg, so will see what I get with these.

I just installed stock size. Has anyone else installed these yet?

For now, until mid-December 2011, $100 off at Costco. I paid $527 for the set installed.

Size: 225/65/R17XL 102 BHW

Tread Wear: 580
Traction: A
Temperature: A

My Review:
So far so good, this tire is officially the best tire I have ever driven in yet. Not necessarily in just the E either, I mean in general. It rides so smooth and quiet and the handling is amazing. I haven't had much snowfall to try them out yet, so I will update on the info about that. Look at that tread, so sleek and sexy.
No rubbing at all. I drove through rain and puddles at high speeds in corners(yes I know I'm insane) the grip on these Yoko's are just to die for.

I was thinking of going with the Cooper CS4 Touring because of the 80,000 Mile warranty and 840 Tire wear. they were offered to us for 700 out the door, but dad wanted to scout around for cheaper prices, alas two days later the prices changed (Americas/Discount Tire Co. changes pricing every month)
instead of the tires being $141 a piece, they sky rocketed to $202. We were shocked because of the huge jump. LUCKILY the guy from the Tire Co. offered us the Yoko's($150) for the original price of the Coopers. We saved $200 for a better performing tire. All worth it, Yoko's are always at the top of their game.

My E came with new Bridgestone Dueller H/L Alenza, Rated at 65,000 miles and 580 treadwear. I tell you ANY of the Dueller series BLOWS. I didn't even hit 20,000 and they were already in need of changing.

The Yoko's are definitely at the top of my list when I need another set of tires.

The average consumer rating for the YK580's is at 5/5 stars.
I wish I could rate higher, but my personal rating is right with those guys at 5/5.

Enjoy the pics.

Just installed a set of Yokohama Geolander AT/s 225 70 16, bought from Taylor Tire in Greensboro NC, for $499 installed, truly a great price. Since Trie Rack and Discount Tire were going to run me 600 for the same set installed.

OK, size is perfect, noticably fills the wheel wells better, actualy as quiet as the stock DOGMEAT Badyears, and really give a firmer more locked down ride. Must be the stiffer sidewalls. On stock 16" wheels and stock suspension. Great upgrade!

In my opionion this is a great tire for those who need some traction, and don't want to spend a fortune on 200 buck a pop meats.

Greetings, Has anyone tried the Cooper Discoverer A/T3 at the 235/70-16 size? I've been running the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza at 225/70-16 on my 05 but they're pretty worn out and it's time to replace them. Thanks in advance.

Tires
- Continental CrossContact LX Sport (100H)
- 215/70 R16
- Tirerack.com, $116 each, $55 shipping
- Review: I have 130,000 miles on my 2003 Element and the car has been in the family since the odometer read 7 miles. This was my fourth set of tires and my previous set ups were: Stock Goodyear HPs and after I had 2 sets of Goodyear TripleTreds because I was a huge fan. I turned to Continental because my Tiguan is fitted with them and I loved the grip they provided. I chose the CrossContact LX Sport versus the regular CrossContact LX mainly because I just wanted to try out a gripper tire since I am 21 and I am still in my relatively aggressive driving phase hahah....after driving them for a few hundred miles...I am stunned.

Pros: (Compared to the 4/32 tread Goodyear TripleTreds I changed from)
- It is a very verrry quiet tire. At 80-85mph wind noise drowns out the tire noise. At 50mph on a smoothly paved road...silence. Truly amazing.
- Grip is much better...I can take corners on average 5-7 mph faster and not hear a single chirp from the tires while the TripleTred you could hear scrapping sound and feel a slight vibrations in the steering. I dare not take corners any faster to reach that point I did with the Tripletred for the soul reason I am not dumb enough.
- I replaced the shocks and bushings at 123,000 miles and with these tires...the car rides like new. Every bump is isolated so well. There is no sharp bounce or rattle transfered to the interior of the cabin.
- Since the groves in the tires are so wide, driving in a recent heavy rain at 75 mph had no affect on it. The reason I loved the TripleTreds were their resistance to hydroplaning and these tires are on the same level.

Cons: (Compared to the 4/32 tread Goodyear TripleTreds I changed from)
- Since these tires are made from a softer rubber I don't expect them to last very long.
- The sidewalls are softer than the TripleTreds so as a result the steering does lose a little bit of feedback when cornering and going over bumps. In my opinion, the increase in grip more than compensates for lose in steering. feeling.

I know how much everyone raves about the mileage you get out of Michelin LTX M/S Tires but at $170 I couldn't afford it on my intern salary. On top of that I wanted a tire that really matched my driving style and made me smile when I drive on a twisty back road (even though it is only a 156 hp Element hahaha) Nothing to report on the Snow/Ice handling since it has been so warm. If you have any questions let me know but I would recommended this tire to anyone who puts driving over cruising and grip over tire life.

Got these from a friend. Sand blasted them then refinished them with Duplicolor Graphite wheel paint. Finished them off with a red pinstripe. Don't know how I feel about them yet. Might sell them.

Been searching the forums for pics of everyone's wheels. Everything is scattered around. I thought it would be fun to post pictures of your aftermarket wheels with some info (Wheel brand and tire size).

here is a pic of whats currently on my E (bridgestone duelers 225/70/16 on Tireracks "sport Max wheels"

Bought 4 Firestone Winterforce UV 215/70R16 tires (already mounted to new 16x6.5 steel wheels) using new conical wheel nuts from tirerack.com for $666 (USD) shipped.

Awesome deep snow and wet traction. I recommend them for winter driving. They are still on in the spring and are doing just fine until I buy some summer tires.

235/60/17 on 17x9 +42 fit with 3mm spacers on the rear.

Update!
On bigger bumps/dips I rubbed in the rear. After a few weeks rubbing became louder and happened more often on rear, passenger side. That prompted me to take the wheel off and inspect.
I discovered some extra shiny paint from where the tire would come in contact with the inner wheel-well, but nothing drastic. I than noticed a very small (maybe a 1/4" long) polished mark on the lower control arm. It turns out on the biggest of bumps/dips the rim would come in contact with the control arm.

To solve the issue I installed 3mm spacers on the rear and now get 0 noise from the rear even when I cross the crappiest of roads in NJ.
So in essence, 17x9" +42 is very close to fitting but needs extra 3mm to eliminate potential rubbing in the rear.

Firestone Destination A/T 235/70 16 on stock 5 spoke alloys. No rubbing but they come pretty close to the fender liners during full lock turns. I wouldn't go any bigger. Look great by the way.

Hey guys, new guy here.
I'm looking at purchasing new wheels for my 06 EX-P 2wd element.
I'm looking at Enkie RPF1 17x8 with 40+ tires 255/40/17 Dunlop Direzza Star Specs. Will I have any rubbing issues with this set up?

I can't comment on possible rubbing issues. But i can say that the tire size you have picked is to small for your E.

The 255/40R17 is almost 3 inches smaller in diameter than the stock size.

Thanks, any recomendation on tire size for 17" wheels?
