trashed affter 23K? wow - thanks for the warning. I only have 8k on mine but am looking forward to upgrading to something meatier when they wear out. Look up some of Empire's post's - he's got some mean looking beefeaters on his E. He might have lifted it too - not sure. Ah - someday.....

I'd be most interested in hearing from people have gone to the same location (and same conditions) with two different sets of tires, and found that one set got them through, while the other did not. Looks is one thing, making a functional difference is another.

Nope no lift, other than the extra 0.5" from the larger 235/70/16 Revos .
I'm thinking the Wrangler MT/R is going to rub. The 225/75/16 is actually larger than a 235/70. Plus with all the chunky tread on the shoulders it's bound to eat plastic. Even some off-road tires in 235/70 will rub mainly due to tread design. The bad thing is 225/75 is the smallest size available in 16" as per TireRack.
It is a mean looking tire but my gut is telling me they'll rub but you could still try them, just keep another option in mind if needed.

Yep, I've got 23 k miles on my box and tires are shot. It's not because of the road conditions, we have really good roads in Georgia. I think they're just cheap.

23k? did you rotate the tires at some interval? in what way are they shot? even tread wear, all the way down?

mine were rotated per schedule they wore evenly but wore quickly just bottom of the line goodyear
the main reason i want such an aggressive tire is where i live they dont plow or salt much due to problems with road salt in peoples water wells
and i like to get offroad and have somefun too

Yes, mine were rotated on schedual, They arent like completely bald or anything, but the ones on the front are down to the warning mark. the back ones are not much better, maybe I should check my tire pressure, ect...

Mine are also about dead after 23,000. They have been rotated religiously. They are just crappy tires

Is there a difference between the HPs that are stock on the Element, and the ones that sell for $100+ at Tirerack and other stores? That price doesn't sound like bottom of the line to me. For both the wear rating is something like 340, which implies a treadlife of roughly 30,000 miles.

There are, of course, tires with higher wear ratings. However there is something of a tradeoff between high traction and high wear rating. The soft rubber of high perfomance tires often means a low wear rating.
