: Thinking inside the box in Waukesha!
Jayne's Woody 08-18-2004, 09:50 PM Just got my EX AWD Element, and lovin it! :D
Has anyone ever arranged a meet in the Milwaukee area? I would love to meet some other owners and kibitz over about our common interests.
Happy trails!

wmas1960 08-19-2004, 01:46 AM Don't know anyone else who owns one yet. I do have a couple friends who have been impressed with mine and have showed some interest. I also haven't gotten involved in any gatherings yet. However there are plenty of possibilities. Perhaps organize an outing to a ball game and do some tailgating. The Element seems to be a very suitable tailgating car.

Took in the Brewers/Cubs game on July 5th. As most of the other fans had left we circled the waggons, well, the Element and the minivans, and we all unloaded our coolers and chips, deli trays... I dropped the tailgate and others pulled out their beach chairs. Us adults sat around gabbing and taking in the food while the kids played ball as traffic on the highway died down for our trip back to Chicago. Was a great day except for the whooping that the Brewers handed our Cubbies... The other tailgaters were amazingly hospitable and friendly to us with our CUBS shirts and hats and all. Will definately have to do it all again sometime.
Jayne's Woody 08-19-2004, 07:58 AM Hey Bill.....
Thanks for your reply (at least I think you replied to my message). I am new to the board, so still figuring things out.
The Brewers game sounded fun. Sorry about your loss to the Brewers but as I understand they are quite ahead of us in the standings. What did you think of the stadium? I am not a baseball follower, but I really enjoy going to Miller Park.
What part of Chicago are you from? We use to live in the NW Suburbs many moons ago.
Oh...I really need to put a pic of my E on my profile as my Element has woody panels on it...thus my name. Sounds like you have done a few extra things with yours. I want to put in floor mats before winter. Any suggestions. Did you buy Honda brand or another mfg.
Would love to hear more about your E and possibly see if we could get a few of us together before winter sets in.

JPprivate 08-19-2004, 08:29 AM I'll participate in a meeting. I'm in Chicago, but of course, we can meet in Milwaukee. We could do something close to the lake, ideal for some great pictures...
wmas1960 08-19-2004, 12:16 PM From the North Suburbs. I really liked the stadium. It has been a while since I went to a baseball game. I think the last was at Comisky (US Cellular). That and Wrigley don't seem to be as Tailgating friendly as Miller Park Seemed. I never did get into the tailgating thing before but the Element offers some good possibilities. Wrigley is a great place and has it's own charm and there are the sports bars accross the street and all. A lot more intimate, so to speek, with the neighborhood. Last time I went there we just hung out at one of the bars across the street till just before game time. A totally different type of thing I guess. As for Comisky, I don't recall it being laid out with Tailgating in mind. Miller was just a whole different atmosphere.
I bunch of friends of mine like to go to a Cubs/Brewer game every year. We all caravaned out. Being my first trip there I wasn't that familiar with the drive and route. Traffic got heavy and I lost sight of the others. Within a minute or so things went terribly wrong. I was following someone elses direction on a Cell Phone and got lost. "Take a Right and Another Right" , We ended up in Downtown Milwaukee, near Bradley Center. After spending the next 30 minutes calling back and forth following others suggestions, "GO WEST" "Turn Left"... trying to navigate our way out to the park. I gave up, HUNG UP on my friends and stopped at a Marathon (?) Station. The attendent told me to go to the second light, Turn Left and go to 41 South. Took that about 2 miles and was there. When we caught up with our friends one said, Did you HANG UP on me. I said. "YES".
Knowing more where to go now, I will definately do it again. Was loads of fun.
As for the accessories, I bought the carpeted mats to dress the car up for more everyday uses. As much as I like the ease of maintenance of the plastic floors, I didn't like the way my feet slid around. Especially when wet outside. They are nice and all but I can see them being a pain for the winter months. I am thinking of getting a second set, this time the All Weather, rubber mats. They should be able to just go in place of the carpeted mats when weather gets bad or when I am doing things more messy. Then when it gets nice again, I can put the carpet back. Incidentally, everything on my car is HONDA parts except the bug deflector which is LUND and the screen in the grill that I fabricated myself. I am also thinking of a Thule Roof Rack.

Ok...I had to have my son help my figure this out, but hopefully I now have an image to show you of my E. Thus the name.....Jayne's Woody.
I bought an "03" , I loved the custom decals and wheels.
Looking forward to chatting with other Milwaukee / Chicago E owners.

Jayne's Woody 08-20-2004, 07:50 AM Hey eveyone....it's fun hearing from other E owners. I am still trying to figure out how to post my pic. :(
I would be interested in hearing what everyone likes about this site and how u use it the most.
I would definitly be interested in an "E" rally. Possibly we can arrange something in the fall. Things are rather hectic around our house with kids back to school etc. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I hope to purchase an arm rest /storage unit.....does anyone have any comments on what on this? Have any of you installed the remote locks yourself?
Can you tell I am excited about my purchase?????
:D :D :D :D
Jayne
wmas1960 08-20-2004, 12:45 PM Regarding the remote locks, (keyless entry) my understanding is that it is very simple and can be done in minutes. I didn't have to install it because it was standard in the 04 EX. When thinking if you want to install certain accessories check some of the businesses that sell Honda parts and accessories on the net. http://www.handa-accessories.com/ www.hondacuraworld.com and www.cheaphondaparts.com . Some of these sites will have links next to the various accessories where you can look at the instructions for installation before deciding whether you want to tackle the job yourself.
As for the armrest, it is one of the most beneficial accessories offered.
http://members.aol.com/wmas1960/WebPosts/ElementArmrest.jpg
Plenty of room for your insurance cards, office accessories that you might need from time to time, (stamps, pens, scissors) A small Flashlight and Calculator, I keep my GPS in there along with my Extended Warrantee card. Some mints and candy and a deck of cards.
The armrest holds a lot of stuff. I do wish, at times, that it were a little deeper to hold a little more but it is very adequate for just about everything I would need to carry. With all that I do have in there I can still, usually, find a little more room to toss in my house keys or my cell phone...
To post pictures you should have some way to host those pictures. I have never done it through the group so I don't know how it works. I just put mine in my FTP space here on AOL. They give me a few meg of storage space where I upload photos or web pages.... Then I put a link to the photo here in my text. In the case of the photo above that is
http://members.aol.com/wmas1960/WebPosts/ElementArmrest.jpg
Then You would highlight that URL and click on Img, among the above buttons.
http://members.aol.com/wmas1960/WebPosts/ElementArmrest.jpg
I have spaced between the codes for demonstration but normally you would not have spaces there. By clicking on the button it will put these codes around your link and will then call it up autmatically when the message is displayed. As opposed to a simple link when the are excluded. You can still click on the link and see the picture but that isn't as much fun as when the picture is automatically displayed in your text. The other codes mentioned below are for bold replace i for the b for italics and u for the b for underline and quote for the b for a quote. Note that the goes before your text or photo link and the goes after your text or photo link. I hope I haven't made it more complex and confusing than necessary. Clicking on the buttons above will automatically put these codes in your post. Or you can, as I have been doing for demonstration, type them in yourself. Incidentally, the brackets are the ones (LOWER CASE) next (to the right of) the P on your keyboard.
The same thing, incidentally, as you do when you want to bold face a part of your text etc. In that situation, highlight the interested text and click the B for Bold or i for Italics or u for Underline.... Quote will put
quotations around a selected text and separate it in your post.
Jayne's Woody 08-20-2004, 09:15 PM Bill:
Thanks again....your help is most appreicated. I also want to thank the rest of you who have responded with such great enthusiasum. I am having a great time reading about my E and hearing about all of your ideas.
It sure has been an attention getter! One of my neighbors stopped by tongiht to take a look.
Jayne's Woody 08-20-2004, 09:22 PM [/b]
Ooops! I wasn't quite done.
It sure does get some interesting looks. Most people say they are not quite sure what they think about it. I tell them to give it some time as it grows on you. I instantly feel in love with it at last year's car show. My husband was shocked that I liked it. This is also our first Honda. I trust it will serve us well.
Thanks again for all your helpful tips and websites. It may take me awhile to master this picture thing.....I need to be in the right frame of mind to tackle that one. Hopefully some day I will get it posted.
