This is something for those of you that know what you're doing when it comes to car stereos...

 Has anyone added speakers to the liftgate on the Element?

For a vehicle designed for tailgating, there are no speakers back there. If you open all the doors, the speakers just face each other.

Seems like it would be great to have speakers on the liftgate. Then when all the doors are open, you would have speakers pointing down on your tailgate party. Or in the cabana, if you had one.

i've thought about relocated the rear speakers from the rear doors to the "C" pillar (is that right? the A pillar is the one up front, the B in the mid, so I assume the C is the rear?). the main reason is that i've had rear passengers say that it's weird that they're not hearing anything from behind them because the speakers are all in front of them.

it's totally possible and i bet the speakers could be wedged into the rear liftgate.

Thats actually a good idea...I took a quick look at mine this evening, but I'll do some in depth investigation this weekend as I'll disassemble the inner panel and see whats going on in there. I'm looking more for a place to put a 6.5 or 8 inch subwoofer...the liftgate cavity might make a halfway decent subwoofer encosure with a little sealing and/or dynamat sound proofing.

I believe that bapuga is actually talking about installing components, 2-ways, mids, or 3-ways back there....not necessarily a subwoofer. if that's the case, i can certainly see the possibility in installing those kinds of smaller speakers into the c-pillar. Not sure about a full fledged sub which are larger in general. I'm thinking the entire c-pillar would pop off given the right frequency! Would be cool to experiement tho.

I don't want to put it in the C pillar, but the liftgate's interior panel. I'm not the tailgating type so I don't personally need components or two/three ways in the door, but a sub somehwere other than the stock/JL Stealthbox location would be cool. The idea in general is a very good one, to put speakers behind the back seats.

I think it's the "D" pillar you're referring to on either side of the rear hatch.
The "C" pillar is between the suicide doors and the side rear windows.
But yeah speakers or even an additional sub would be nice on the lift gate. Hell, why stop at audio and also add a nice flip down monitor.
It doesn't have to be the mammoth that was installed in the Studio E but I figure, if space allows, a nice 8, 10, maybe even 15 inch screen would be great for camping, tailgating, showing off or whatever you wish.
