    i would just use a damp sponge and a bucket to wipe them clean after you scuff, and after you sand after applying the primer..as you said to get the dust off. No soap just clean water. There are products for doing this but for such a small job it would be a waste of money IMO. Just make sure they are completely dry and clean and you should be good to go. Do not sand in between coats of the base/color and follow the directions for the time between coats as well as the clear.

    Yes it should with some to spare. I did multiple light coats of paint to keep the metallic from running which is probably what you would want do to as well. I've seen those duplicolor cans and it would probably be an acceptable alternative (esp since your car is black) but for my color it would be terribly obvious if it was not the exact same color. Also forgot to mention i would scuff the splash guard with 800-1000 grit sandpaper and once you get a few coats of primer sand that with 400-800 grit and try to use some type of backing block...you will see once you start sanding when the texture becomes smooth thats all you are going for...smooth/level. Hopefully it doesnt sound to difficult because its really not but I think anyone will tell you the prep is what makes it or breaks it.

    Ok, I'll use primer. Best to do it right the first time. I haven't looked locally here in Toronto other than Canadian Tire and they have "Honda Black" in a spray can from Dupli-Color, I think options around here would be limited, paintscratch.com it is. One last question...will one can of each of the three parts do the trick? Thanks for your help.

    I would say some kind of primer would still be better in giving the paint something to stick to. I lightly sanded the splash guard itself to give the primer something to physically adhere to but when I sanded the primer it gives the paint something to chemically stick to as well as physically stick to. If you don't want to use primer you would probably need some type of adhesion promoter otherwise the paint may come off the plastic in big sections..same difference more or less. I would recommend paintscratch.com I had no issues and it arrived pretty quick...although I found out after they are somewhat local to me but still I guess in talking to another local paint supply there are only a handful of places that have licence to be able to load spray cans so options are somewhat limited to begin with. Best of luck..I think its a great subtle mod to do~

    Yep....your painting mod. They look good on your E. Mine is NBP, but I think painting them will still look good. I plan on following your steps. I will most likely order the paint/clear coat from paintscratch, they seem like they have their act together and your experience seemed positive. Do you think I need to prime given I am painting them black and the paint isn't metallic?

    Hi Sheldon, By splash guard mod I'm assuming you mean me painting them..they have held up so far perfectly no chipping or problems otherwise and I have washed the car dozens of times. I just did a complete detail and inspected them last weekend and they look just like they did the day I finished. Hope that helps and let me know if you have any questions!
