Who makes the highest-quality cars?
http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com...alityCars.aspx
Japanese and luxury automakers dominate the top 5 rankings by brand in a benchmark annual survey of new-vehicle quality. Ford's Mercury was the top U.S. brand, ranking No. 6. By MSN Money staff with wire reports Honda and Porsche lead the pack in J.D. Power and Associates' annual ranking of initial vehicle quality. Porsche is the top brand, with the fewest reported problems per vehicle. Honda has winners in three segments, more than any other automaker. Its Honda Civic, Fit and CR-V all got awards. The study, released today, measures problems in the first 90 days of ownership. It questioned 81,500 people who bought or leased vehicles from the 2008 model year. A separate survey, due later this month, measures the reliability of 3-year-old models. • MSN Autos: Smart buys as gas prices rise J.D. Power says overall quality of brand-new vehicles improved to an average of 118 problems per 100 vehicles from 125 problems last year, a change of 6%. Jeep was the worst performer, with 167 problems per 100 vehicles. "This gain is driven not only by strong advances from many of the high-volume brands such as Chevrolet, Ford and Toyota, but also by very significant improvements by many other automakers," said David Sargent, vice president of automotive research at J.D. Power and Associates. "This industrywide improvement is a testament to the effort that automakers are putting into listening to the voice of the customer."
