ok that makes sense, so are any of the mechanics between an 06 and 07 interchangeable to increase performance?

I have a 06 and a 2010 and there is a noticeable different. However because the Element was not made for heavy hauling the difference is only minor. Ten extra hp when pulling a trailer would come in handy but other than that it's pretty much the same ride.

However if I was to run them through the quarter mile the 2010 would probably win by half a second is my guess.

if you're noticing any difference it's probable in the gearing, you
couldn't tell a 10hp difference on a bet !

When I have made 10hp gains on other vehicles through mods I could notice a difference. I would take that bet.

10 Hp could be gains at a higher RPM than you ever drove at. I would actually be more interested in the torque specs.

that is consistent with my somewhat hazy memory of the events.

True, max HP is probably at 5500-6000 rpm. I have an RBB (TSX) intake manifold on mine, bolts up to the older K24A4 engine, might be similar to the IM on the K24A8. Not a huge difference but it feels torquier in the midrange, e.g. acceleration and passing power.
